Just donated almost £500 to BMW for a major service and a few warranty niggles on the extended warranty. Good for another few years yet.

Cheap month for November, fuel & very reasonable £40 for a brake fluid flush & change.
I suspect I will get the sump gasket done in the new year.

The MD do Rob you, the last time I was foolish enough to get any servicing done at the stealers I was charged £197 for a oil change nowadays I buy my Castrol from tesco when it's on offer for £9/10 a litre & buy it with the club card tokens, dealer filter for £11 & £25 cash to my friendly indy

No issues for me during December. Cars running very nicely at the moment.
Although I will need to get the sump gasket replaced at some point

With it being new year, how has 2017 been for everyone in terms of running your cars? Reliable or has it been a costly year? I think my biggest expenditure came after my first track day and not realising how much would need to be changed after! Having said that, other than that all has been good, just a failed ABS sensor but that wasn't too bad to fix....2nd track day coming up in a few weeks, though the car (and myself) are more prepared this time haha

Sump gasket needs doing in the not to distant, why would bmw design a car that needs to have the front sub frame dropped to replace the sump gasket??? Grrrr Have fun on that track day, have you changed the brake fluid to something more track friendly?

Just went over to Porsche to have a look around, I was very impressed with their cars and the quality of fit and finish but they are deadly expensive these days. Boxter for 80k!? Yes, I have motul rb600 so that should do me well. I remember we had a brief discussion in one of my threads regarding pads as well. I've gone down the yellowstuff route and am keen to see how they do. I believe you were a fan of the redstuff? I slightly warped the discs on the first track day but only replaced them with OEM discs again as I didn't think I would do another trackday. So I have a feeling they may be the weak point after another day at Oulton Park. Could be a chance to upgrade those after depending on how they do. |

Yep am still using red stuff, yellows should be pretty good for track days. Try not to hold your car on the brake pedal after heavy or braking from high speed, in everyday driving with an auto most of us don't bother to take it out of gear & use the handbrake, doing so helps to avoid heat soak from pads to the disks, which can cause brake judder. Hope the tracks not to greasy

Did you specifically order a rad for an auto? When my rad was done my indie was sent one for a manual, even though my reg number was quoted & ended up with car of the road for almost a week whilst the correct one was being sorted.

I did check with supplier and looked on other CSF suppliers websites and this model is continually paired with the auto ( CSF 3717 )... if it's incorrect I'll be very annoyed

£245 in a serpentine belt and pulley kit last week, and now I have noticed my valve cover is leaking again so will probably cost me another £345 in a valve cover

I took it back to the indie that had done the work, they had a good look stripped it down a bit & took the under trays off to find it is the sump gasket leaking, the whole underside & up the drivers side of the engine to just below the heat shield is oily.

My sump gasket is leaking too, on my old e46 I'd of done this myself in a few hours but the E92 looks like a proper chew to change! Definetley leaking around the VCG as its oily around the gasket, so probably a tiny crack in the cover itself, should of just changed them both last year instead of just doing the gasket.
