It’s an option but I wanted to do it in 12 months. Well
See what the changeover is

I’m at that point as well, just refinanced and put the car up on carsales, if it sells I’ll get something new. M2 and M4 are so close in price for second hand it’s hard to justify the M2.

Maybe in a year the will move apart further.

M240i also looks good for sub 70k

When the VANOS bolts shear off they don't usually log valvetronic faults though.

Seems like a fair few N55s of late have been having the issue.

You'd just skip the 240, your car nows basically better.

M2 look stunning but as you said, you'd just grab the used m4.

I think a 240 is better than my 335i N55

NBT iDrive
B58 engine
Not as good looking but it can get close with wheels and some M performance kit
Not E series platform, so doesn’t fall apart
When OBD flashing launches it will be good, light rwd coupe

But yeah M4 would be better

Difference is 65k to 85k though

Was underwhelmed by the M4 today. Very similar to my 335i. If you compare drive when I was custom mhd tuned with downlipes and fmic not too different

Fingers crossed my car doesn’t fall to pieces before C63s are in the price range. They are my ultimate realistic car!

Got your message the other day and sorry haven't gotten back to you, getting slammed at work. I don't know much about that code and I can only refer you to some of the guys here that know more any way. Sorry I can be more help!

I think despite the performance of the S55, the real beauty of the F8x is the chassis. They changed so many things vs the standard 3 series. They feel very tight and controllable - large vs my 1M for sure but surprisingly nimble. The only concern I've got is the crank hub issue some have reported, that's scary.

Happy to mod my 1M a little more and enjoy it for a few more years then see what's around.

I don't like any new bms besides the m6 gran coupe. Merc has the edge for me atm. C63s coupe second hand anyday for me if pockets are deep enough.. I am however going backwards in model year and will have a surprising addition to my collection if the sale works out in the near future. Keep you posted

That’s interesting because I rode in a 2016 M135i and was very impressed, I though an M4 would be amazing compared to our 335is

I had a F80 M3 for a while and got rid of it as it was too big, the ride wasn't that great and it wasn't as good to drive as the 335i. I took it out to the drags once and the best I could manage was a 12.5s because of wheel spin. As you say aaron, a 335i with a few mods will perform just as good and be a better daily drive IMO and heaps cheaper.

I’m on probation with my license so won’t be exploring the chassis until December 4 lol - and I’m too scared to go to the track with an uninsured (for track use) expensive car

I agree - Bmw has dropped off. Interior of mercs kill it, and exterior look completely lofferent to our generation which increases the appeal

In for pics!

Don’t get me wrong, it’s quick and feels nimble compared to my vert, but cabin feel and power delivery were very similar - for $100k I want to be very excited about the purchase, not indifferent.

All I want is reliability but it eludes me with my 335i. If a Mustang was safer I’d buy a brand new one with warranty ........

Dare i say it.... Audi? Not on the same level in terms of exterior stying(subjective) but they hammer in a straight line...

In relation to the "If the mustang was safer" comment, don't forget that the safety rating is a rating against all newly manufactured cars for that year, and my understanding from some quick reading is that the new safety ratings are a bit negatively skewed against what we (spirited) drivers are thinking or wanting because they're starting to heavily weight crash avoidance like lane departure warnings and active cruise control

if you're thinking the safety cell or airbags are comprimised they're likely to be better than our e9x's...

personally when I did the reading I thought it was dumb because no one would know and assume that some new cars were actually less safe than some older cars, as far as I can tell it's almost impossible to compare, unless they're first manufacture was in the same year, which is dumb IMHO

Yeah the results are only that shit because of no silly bells and whistles and gimmicky bits, its not a reflection of the cars structural integrity. Crash avoidance lights, radar sensors and emergency auto braking ect. Those ratings are marketing trash only.

Great info guys. I had no idea. Going to research now. If it is that electronic stuff only I don’t care. That’s my job. But the cell and airbags is what I’m interested in

I agree. That is why I sold my F80 M3 and bought a Audi S3. Great car to drive, economical, does 13.0s quarters stock and with a APR Stage 1 tune, it will do 12.0s.

Hey how was the cabin space in the M4 compared to the 335i?

Any more or less headroom?

Front seat was good. I’m 6 foot and rear headroom was abysmal. Although who cares about rear occupants haha
