Hey guys I'm thinking of upgrading my front and rear sways from the oem E93 335 to the E92 M3. My question is, do I have to also replace the sway bar end links as well or am I okay with re using the ones I have if they're in good shape? Any help would be appreciated thanks in advance

I would consider them just like any other rubber bushing on the car and replace them while you are already in there. IIRC the M3 sways have stiffer rubber bushings anyways so it may be worthwhile to upgrade so you have links that are matched to the sway bar.

Ideally they should be replaced to keep your geometry correct.
Here is just a random example of how the geometry can change with the proper length of end links. Another reason to change/upgrade them is because the stockers wear over time. |

Op....I just did this upgrade on my E91. I upgraded the end links to adjustable heavy duty ones. Also my Wagon is lowered on Eibachs. I changed out all the bushings also. I’m very happy with the results.

Are you just on lowering springs or did you get new struts too? And do you have a link to where you bought your end links?

I replaced shocks and struts also....I went with STAGG SHS. Affordable shock/strut combo that paired up nicely with the Eibachs. Ride quality is great, stock/sport feel.
I found the end links on eBay. Just do a search for - Heavy duty adjustable sway bar end links BMW 3 series E90 / E91 / E92 / E93. Company called GRP out of Germany. I tried pasting the link, but it attaches all my info from eBay since I just bought them recently. I just looked them up. There are still some available so you should find them easily. I’m in Sarasota, very flat and straight. So this suspension set up works fine for me. Not sure how it would be on very bumpy crappy roads like up north. The few bumps and twists and turns in my area the suspension handles it well.
Some ppl may poo poo the STAGGs but the SHSs seem to be better model. I did a lot of research and most of the reviews were pretty good. So I decided to pull the trigger. I may upgrade down the road but for now, and the limited driving and low miles I put on the car the current set up is perfect. Ahhhh ok great....glad it worked and you found them. If you have questions shoot me a pm I’d be glad to answer them. |

The rule of thumb is, when lowering a car, is to add length to the front & subtract length in the rear. You need to measure from the center of the hub to the top of the fender to find the ride height, before you put it up on ramps or jack stands. Then you set the new end links to the ride height. This way there is no pre-load on the swaybars. To do the rear swaybar, I think you will have to lower the subframe about 6" or so, on all four corners. If you live in a 4 seasons state that uses salt on the roads in the winter, the 4 bolts that hold the bushings and subsequently the swaybar to the rear subframe are likely frozen on the subframe. You'll need some Kroil Oil and probably a torch to heat them up. Let the bolts soak over night. Also, if you are lowering the subframe down in the rear, that would be a great time to do SS brake lines since the attachment points are now accessible. $600.00 for new M3 swaybars is pretty steep. Eibach makes a set of front and rear swaybars, that are tuned to their lowering springs, for $277.00 out the door. FYI..., |

@mweisdorfer I have seen their sways but the rear are just not stiff enough for what I'm looking for honestly and that's why I'd prefer to go the M3 route, and so when I do eventually lower the car would I have to re measure from the hub to the fender when it's already lowered? Or is that something done before I put the new struts and springs on? And I live in Florida where the only 2 seasons we have is summer and hell with a butt load of rain : and I didn't know about the SS being that annoying to get to so I might as well do it at once like you suggest thanks again for all the info!

@FlaPatsFan I'll look into that. For that price that's a damn steal! Where'd you get the bushings from? And did you also switch out the bushing plate as well or does the 335i one fit?

Yep, the Brake lines are a major PITA in the rear, with the subframe in its place. When the subframe is lowered and or out of the car completely, it's easy. I would highly recommend Goodridge SS Brake Lines. I just put in Whiteline adjustable endlinks on my car today. I had the replace the Hotchkiss endlinks because the boots were torn, and I was getting a clunking sound. Whiteline end links were super easy to install. I like them better than Hotchkiss to be honest. I'll post a DIY soon in the DIY section on that. I didn't really need to worry about ride height with these. I'll explain in my DIY. |
