Error code help
Driving home today at WOT car went into limp mode. Error code 2C56 and 2C58 came up. I checked the error code pdf and its about boost pressure and potentially wastegates.
Just wondering if anyone had any insight into these or potential causes/fixes other than what the pdf says. Also car is recently ppk flashed (last Tuesday). Never happened before. Coincidence? Or more strain on the system and weakness showed itself? Thanks! |

When you add a tune (and I have no idea how the ppk works) but it will generally increase boost and other engine settings significantly If boost safety is not increased, when you go WOT you push the car beyond the preset safety limits and the car goes into limp mode and throws codes I fixed mine by increasing the boost safety in the JB4 settings (via laptop) Im guessing the boost settings can be coded by an mechanic or someone like Vtl Its just a guess, it may have nothing to do with boost settings at all.... best give the guys with more techinical knowledge then me, a chance to respond |

What are you using to read the codes?
Error codes are actually not that useful as the diagnostic trouble code has a lot more than just the code number. It stores mileage, ambient conditions, rpm and a bunch of other stuff associated with the fault. Also a lot of the time there is more detailed diagnostic information which is the most important part of the fault, while the code itself might not tell you much. Just looking up the error code, it seems you've overboosted and the 2nd code is the limp mode that comes with it. But with no detailed information there's not much to go on. Is the JB4 completely physically removed from the car? ie not just on Map 0? Sounds like a fault that might be caused by a piggy tune, as stock tunes pretty much never overboost unless you've got some sort of physical issue with the turbo waste gate or vacuum lines. Is it 100% reproducible? If you take it for a drive does it always happen?

I'm ising INPA to read the codes. Jb4 was removed and sold so I'm 100% sure it's not that lol!!
Car had no issues since jb4 removal and reset of adaptive values 6 months ago. Got ppk last Tuesday, it happened last night so 6 days later. Read and cleared codes last night. Haven't driven the car since. How can I pull up all the other details you mentioned if it happens again? |

You'll need to add N55 to the list of modules in INPA as it is not included by default:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1042268 Add the ipo files to your installation in post #21 Open up MEVD1726 and read the error codes in the module. Itll have much more data. It'll be in German but run it through google translate and post it up.

3 error memories available in the DME: Error memory - current and recent faults History memory - not so important error and information codes Information memory - history of the previous fault codes from error memory

Okay, check back tomorrow night please after I've had a chance to try and follow the instructions.
If it is just a matter of raising the boost fail safe is it possible to do that without something like a jb4? |

Copy the *.ipo files in to the SGDAT directory Add the new lines in the E90.eng: ENTRY= Mevd176k, Mevd 176k for N55 Make sure the filename of the ipo file is the same as the bold text. If you added both the ipo files then add 2 lines and see which one works. Last edited by vtl; 08-31-2016 at 01:08 AM.. |

I had a go at doing this myself, I've added the two IPO files And then added the two lines to the e90 file
I renamed the file to MEVD176K.IPO MEVD172.IPO And used the same name without .IPO in the e90 file When I try to select them in the engine the MEVD176K gives this error in German mismatched versions . Malfunction is possible Then shows heaps of errors on screen that I can either stop the script processing yes or no. |

The link and post 21 that Vincent commented has a text file, if you remove .txt from the name and make it .rar then use winrar to extract the contents there are two .ipo files in it.

Actually did you put your JB4 to map 0? Won't work otherwise
