Clowned!!!
Oh Man! I've been calling a few shops in my local area to see if they can install my springs and shocks. I called 3 shops that all specialize in BMW service and repair.
All of them said they don't install customer supplied parts. One shop told me it's because he makes most of his money selling you the parts. In the end, I felt like a kid being turned down by adults ! I guess I am a "boyracer", cuz I feel like it! I will have to take some time to drive further out where boyracers are welcome! WALNUT CREEK SUCKS ASS!! Danny

I guess they are all too busy marking up parts 500% to do the job.
I'm amazed that a shop would pass up the opportunity to provide a labor service where the profit margins are the highest. They could have at least quoted you a price that makes it worth their time. I could understand if they said it was due to liability because they can't verify the quality of the parts but even that is a stretch if you are using brand name parts in the original packaging with all the contents. I hope I don't run into the same problem. Of course the only quote I received was $400 for the install. That kind of demotiviated my search. |

they do have a business to run,
I would expect to pay an inflated labor rate at a bare minimum for bringing in my own parts. What if the parts they are asked to install are defective/wrong parts?? they're just covering their own butts |

I couldn't even expect to pay higher rates, it was over before it began. I know the point about *bad* parts being offered for install, unfortunate that a few bad apples cause this. Even still, they could take it on a case by case basis. Whatever, no skin off my nose, I was just trying not to drive 50 miles one way to get an install done. Are you going to the meet? Sign up foo! Danny

How long ago was this? When I was talking to them, I remember getting ready to set an appointment (when I only had springs) and I picked a Saturday, they said no weekends. Danny

well at least you have your parts, im still looking for rims and suspension. waiting for hookups. dont want to throw all my pennies onto my car and be broke for the next couple of months. only if my boys still had a shop, it would of been cheap and fast.

I already have an appointment on the 24th of this month to get the system installed. Because the rear dampers are only internally adjustable, unlike the fronts, I'm gonna only turn those up about halfway or a little less before they are installed and hope that I like it at that setting! I wish the rears were more easy to adjust. Danny
