2006 E90 front caliper upgrade

Hey all,

I know theres a host of calipers I can go to but I'm keen to know what standard kit BMW used that was an improvement on the single piston calipers.

Is there a twin piston caliper that was standard kit on the E90?
Any ATE equivalents perhaps?

I know I can go big 4 piston Brembos but I'd like to stay with factory equipment whilst at the same time moving away from the single piston.

What are the 4 piston Brembo options? Any similar calipers from another make that bolt on? I'd rather not go with an adapter plate ... prefer bolt on and bleed.

Also want to retain rotors as well ...

What model car do you have? Depending on which model you may have the option for the larger calipers from a higher model. Get the idea that single piston calipers are bad because they are not. If you are doing it for looks, ok. If you are doing it for better braking, you need to do more research.

You can easily replace E9x 335i single piston + 348mm disks for F30 Brembo 4 piston (Bmw Performance, be aware there are 340 and 370mm versions) + 340mm disks with no modifications needed.
It is a nice upgrade, worth the extra money, as a bonus you save some 1 kg/wheel of mass as the combo is slightly lighter (mostly the brake disc itself).
Just make sure you replace-upgrade to the SS brake lines and add some performance brake pads (extra friction, bite).
No need, no real benefit to replace the rear brakes.

most people don't usually go for the bmw perf 6 piston 340mm and instead go for the e9x 335i 348mm single piston since they are cheap and just as effective. If you want to keep it light you can get two piece rotors that were usd for the z4 35is but are quite expensive.

You will not be able to retain rotors. More pistons doesn't mean its better just keep that in mind.
