Highest Milage N54's in 2021?? What's everyones Maintainance list

As the title states, was just wondering how far people have taken these engines as i'm at 246km's right now personally.

Just regular maintenance
OFHG
VCG
OCG
Front control arms
ST X coilovers
Adjustable Toe, Camber arms & End links
HPFP

Oil pan gasket is getting to the point of replacement now & i'm suspecting leaky injectors so index 12's coming up soon too.

Would be very interested to see how far people have gone with these engines & how far people are now. Maybe even what revision injectors people are running?

Most people who are tuned, will run index 12.

Couple that with Eldor Coils & NKG one or two step colder plugs & you won't have any issues with that part of the equation

Bought my car at 109xxx kms
First thing I did was change the charge pipe because it's prone to cracking.
Diverter valves failed and valve cover cracked a cpl weeks apart@125xxx kms
oil filter housing gasket, oil pan gasket
front and rear main seals(front was a result of serpentine belt...)
Changed original clutch/flywheel @ 140xxx kms - flywheel honestly didn't need change.
Started getting and fixed wastegate rattle @ 140xxx kms

I tend to go above and beyond on my maintenance... but, I also drive my car hard. I changed almost every single one of my coolant hoses when I did the main seals - really didn't need to, but there was some oil on them. I suspect a failing HPFP in the near future but it hasn't become a clear issue, yet. Still running original turbos and I am surprised because I had 23 PSI tune for a while. I suspect those will need changing soon. Currently at 156xxx kms.

There was a recall on injectors if I'm not mistaken. Not sure how it works where you are. I was eligible for the recall except I did them already :

Right on, I'm going in the same direction in regards to maintenance since the car is FBO currently. Keep an eye on your turbo drain seal as the turbos themselves can hold up quite a while its just the lines and wastegate issue. I'm in Ontario GTA as well but I don't think I apply for the recall at all

Cheers. I will look into the drain seal when I fire her up for the season(it's almost time). Which leads me to ask, do you drive yours year round?

According to another BMW forum; the eligible build dates are 04/01/2007 through 11/30/2008 - incase you didn't know the dates.

I am beyond anxious hahaha...The previous owners (2) drove the car year round, but i've parked it this winter myself. It now sits at 246km's & I believe that makes me illegible for that warranty..

Ah, well that's nonesense . Well, if you do end up picking up injectors, may I suggest park auto motorsport. Located in kitchener, index 12. They we're the cheapest I found, local/no tariff rubbish, VDO brand. Been running them for 1.5 summers on a stage 2 MHD, no complains here.

That's the place I was eyeing to grab them from, did you install them yourself by chance if not where did you go to get them done?

I didn't have the hardware needed at the time to code my injectors. I took them to my local BMW specialist in the Caledon area. Cost me around $65 to get them coded, took about 45 mins. That's a ways out of the city though.

How good is he with n54's ? Is that your main mechanic? I'm in the Hamilton area so it's not too far.

I'm at 220k+ miles. I've changed out all the common problem items and many more that might not have needed to be done right at that moment. Car is practically brand new in my eyes. I have a huge list of all that I've done on my car, but I def wouldn't want to try and add it all up

Damn that's almost as much as my e30. Congrats. How long have you owned it? Must be one of the highest mileage N54's on the board, I haven't heard of any higher ones

Thanks man. I've had it for just about 5 years now come this May I believe. I believe I've seen one or two recently(i think in the high mileage thread) with N54 with a little more than me.

Been hella busy with work, didn't see this! That's a bit of a drive, just the gas alone might be worth it to see if ParkAuto can do the work.

He is my main mechanic, for the things I can't do/don't have the tools for. So he's only done stuff like this(electrical diagnostics/coding) for me. I turn my own wrenches typically. His prices are definitely better than any dealership by a long shot. He typically charges less than most shops for an hourly rate which is nice. He's young, he's only 29-30 but he knows his stuff. I watched him pull an refresh my buddy's 535, and it purrs. It's been 2 years and its still purring. It's called Uro Performance in the Hockley Valley area.

228,600 on mine. Just the usual items, injectors, constant oil leaks, etc. Have another water pump waiting to go in; have about 120k on the current one.

Biggest issue is constant need for thrust arm bushings and alignments, most likely due to MN roads. Add the usual chassis issues like a driveshaft, all the wheel bearings at least once, lots of tires (and more alignments), and a could windshields... and here I am!

Was tracking a weird noise for years, replaced all belts/pulleys, even the ps pump. Finally realized it was the ac compressor. $40 for a junkyard part, and I'm honestly surprised how good it sounds.

Given how much it would cost to find a good 340i or M3, it just still seems to make sense to keep this one going.

I had an option of going for a 328i 2009 with 84k or a 335i 2008 with 89k for $8994. I went with the 328i because of maintenance and lower mileage than the 335i. How the heck did you get 228k? Everybody said stay away from the 335i because of reliability issues. How much you spent?
