Need a little help with a few codes 2E30 30AC: Update Issues Resolved
04-23-2024
UPDATE: Issue Resolved see post #6 below. 04-20-2021 I'm hoping for some diagnosis assistance from you. Background: - Bank 1 and bank 2 spark plugs replaced September 2020. - Bank one injectors all index 12 replaced September 2020. - Battery died in February 2021, and replaced with new original bmw battery. I think while trying to boost the car (with one of those small portable boosters that didn't have enough juice) I may have caused the issue with CAS, ULF, Safety Module and MOSTSYS, but I'm not sure. Maybe the fuses blew, will have to check. Update regarding modules not responding in ISTA: USB Serial Port latency was somehow changed to 16. After changing latency to 1 all modules started responding. New issue below (2e30 and 30AC) is still present. Code 29E1 - is a lean mixture code in bank 2 likely related to injector in cylinder 6. Been having that for a little while. NEW Issue Codes 2E30 and 30AC and I'm worried this is a MOSFET issue. (Search shows that some guys get this code even after upgrading their DME, so fingers crossed it's not related to that) Gonna swap the coils first and see if fault follows. Checked realoem.com and my VIN shows that i have MSD81 which is weird considering my car is N54 06/2007 build date. I thought 07's should be MSD80. I'll verify this in person. I'm reluctant to blame the injector as it only been 7 months since i put them in (index 12) Any other suggestions? For some reason in ISTA when I go into Service Functions it doesn't show a list that has a + sign beside each section. Doesn't seem like I can go and activate components. Looks like I'm alone in this saga, and for those that may come back to it one day, I will document the resolution as i go along.
Small update: Was able to get all modules to respond in ista. Issue was usb port latency was set at 16. after changing it to 1, all modules responded and were ok. DME module however is still registering my new issue, codes 2E30 and 30AC. -Cleared the codes today. -Pulled the coil and spark plug. -Spark Plug seemed ok visually. -Inspected the injector plug and measured the resistance on the injector pins as per ISTA instruction (Spec: 200kohms +/- 40). Was at a good 190kohms. -Was hoping the issue would come back so i could swap the ignition coil to a different cylinder, but could not get the faults again. -Took the car on a test run and it drove perfect. Coasting and hard pulls were no issue. -I did not pull the DME yet. Will wait for the codes to come back first and eliminate the coil as a culprit. Was just reading out of curiosity, unfortunately i'm not much help here but I wanted to say regarding realoem and the MSD81, it shows that for all cars i'm fairly sure. 07 most definitely has MSD80.

UPDATE: Issue Resolved
This issues was intermittent over the years from 2021 up until end of 2023 when it was finally resolved. Car would just go into limp mode without any warning or prior symptoms. Sometimes it would be ok for week and months and some days it would be back to back. Ultimately issue was Cylinder 1 injector connector. One of the two pins developed an internal crack and would cause this intermitent issues. Once the pin was pushed out of the plastic connector harness it fell on the floor in two pieces. As i have literaly exhausted every damn option of diagnostics, I ordered a pin repair kit from bmw dealer as my last attempt. Nachos23 was kind enough to help me put this in after he did my walnut balsting. Thank you again for your time and diagnostics. Pin in question: I hope this helps someone one day.
