Why can't you rotate tires?
My new to me has 225/45-17 on all four corners. PO said it does not have run flats any longer since they suck. Is there a reason I cannot rotate front to back and left to right? They do not say rotate only one direction on them. However it does say outside on it. They are Cooper CBS UltraM+S. I assume they are average tires which is fine with me. Handling is far better than my TDI jetta it is replacing.

If it says "outside" on it then its an asymmetrical tire but not directional. As long as they all say "outside" and theyre all the same size AND the wheels are the same offset you can rotate however you want.

I would be all over the Front to Rear rotation. Those of us with different tire sizes (we call this stagger) can't do the front to rear. My PSS are marked outside so I do left to right rotations mainly to get even wear on the outside edge of the fronts.

I'm running 265-19 on the rear and the inside of the tire just get worn bad, so I remove the tire and put them on the other side. It's more work but I get more life from the tires.

I always thought both rear inboard edges wore equally due to negative camber setting in the suspension. I had dealer do alignment and the rears have faired more even wear across whole tread now. |

Im guessing he removes the tires and turns them around so the inside is now the outside. Otherwise it would mean one corner alignment is more negative than the other. This would work for directional or non-directional, but not asymmetrical tires.
