all OEM coolant hoses like this?

Performing some preventative maintenance on the cooling system. The OEM upper rad hose (Conti) does not fit without introducing a lovely kink. The OEM one is clearly too long.
The part number is correct as confirmed on realoem.

I saw similar comments from reviewers on FCPeuro that had purchased the Rein option - 'kink'.

Anyone else face this?

Looks like I am off to the dealership to purchase a replacement there at 3x the price :)

I installed a Rein top hose but can't recall if it was longer side by side. But I didn't encounter any issues with it. Going through the reviews right now and don't see any kink mentioned.

i should have clarified - the 'kink' comments on fcp were only for 328i models not 335. The upper rad hoses are different - so this seems to be an N52 phenomena.

When I replaced the upper hose on the 07 328i I used a Gates hose 23419. It is out of stock on Rock Auto now.

It was a perfect fit, and came with lifetime warranty.

I think they sent you the wrong hose. This one here looks more like the factory hose you have on the right in the picture.

Data point: I used a Rein upper hose from FCP on my '07 328i auto and length was fine.

What caused a little problem was tolerances with the heater core fitting coming out of the bottom of the hose. Was just a smidge undersized so was weeping around the edge. I swapped out O-ring and that seemed to fix it.

Grabbed a Rein upper hose and same issue: kink. Baffled.
Off to the dealership.

BMW hose is a go, naturally.

this leaves a bad taste for aftermarket coolant hoses. 0 for 2 (rein and conti).

in my experience with parts REIN is a horrible company. Their OE parts fit like shit or not at all and this is two platforms e46 and e92. With hoses go OEM or a reputable OE supplier

Same, I only kept one of theirs still in the package for the 3 way hose replacement in case I damaged mine in a swap. That and the hose that runs along the top of the rad. Figured cheap enough would work as a bodge if one of those was damaged.

How big of a kink are we talking about here with the Rein hose?

enough of a kink that it looks like the hose looks collapsed near the middle. Definitely not something I would be comfortable leaving.
