Nice work!!! Looks great man. I like the blue needles to be honest!

I've done this a few times with used KOMBI HI clusters as they are dirt cheap on eBay. You just need to clear the eeprom mileage and reprogram to your vin.

When instead of a soldering iron you could use a hot air gun and solder paste.

Looks good bud. Not 100% sure on the blue needles, but if you like them that's all that matters

It looks superb...but with the rest of the interior being orange im not sure how that works.

OP can you take a pic from the back seat to capture the whole dash?

I've just posted this in another thread, but here is mine showing that it really doesn't look out of place compared to the rest of the dash.

You tend to find that while you're driving you only really see the speedos in front of you anyway as the rest of the dash is either in your peripheral vision or outside of it completely.

I always like this mod but don't see how it fits in with the rest of the orange ambient lighting in the door cards and the radio heater controls. Any wider angle pictures. Good work. Brave man breaking it all apart

Sorry, blue needles = VW
You should have bought Golf especially the one on cheap lease than doing this.

Also, do not like the central lcd with bluish lcd and the above in bluish colour. Could have left it in normal standard colour. These must be something on speedometer to match the rest of interior. Each to their own.

Very similar to my interior except some differences.
I have NBT and alpina odometer whereas you have 335i engine to beat that
Nice car

Does BMW performance gaiter make much difference?

Makes a real big difference to the dull orange lights.
Good job dude, I think it looks great! Not 100% on the blue needles, i think they look good, but not sure if id go so dark.

I wanted to do the same with the centre lcd, move from orange to a blue/white, but your pics have convinced me. have you got a link to where you bought the leds from? It would be good to get a set that you know would be bright enough/right colour etc!

Is it just the angle on this pic, or is the lit up area at the base of the needle brighter/bigger on the alpina dash? it is pretty, but i imagine pricey? perhaps that could be achieved by shaving a tiny bit off the bottom of the needle housing?

The speedo etc is red at night because this causes much less glare to your eyes than white. In my 640 it was white during the day and switched to red at night. I like the look of white but not the glare it would cause to my eyes at night.
