I don't know what it is... but the Leonia gets no love from Blue F150's....
Specifically Blue!

Notorious...... Vacuum leaks?

So.... I have some choppiness while the car is in idle. It could be a voltage issue but I wanted to make sure it wasn't vacuum.

I made my own smoke detector pressurized by a bicycle pump. It was relatively inexpensive to make as I had all of the components.

Making something like this was a bunch of fun, but keeping a glass bottle around a shop/basement environment with other tools.... not the smartest thing. Might have to modify the base with a 3d print and make it more stable.

This is a flashback to a couple of months ago, July to be specific.
Took a 9 hour roadtrip up to Jasper. First time I took a roadtrip since the huge overhaul and logged a good 800 miles.

Car camping with the doggos was not as bad as I thought, but I definitely need a cushion lol

Before that, the blower motor was ticking so there goes another 280 usd

I also decided to do a quick coolant flush to see if there was any more leaks with the oil filter housing... turns out there was a leak but it did not mix the liquids. I didn't find this out until later... until this happened... 2 days before the trip....

In the quest to chase down rough running, i changed the throttle body assembly and associated washer.

The old one on the right, new on the left. I thought VDO was oem replacement? Could this car have previously replaced the TB?

Looks like there are differences with the washer too

Installation is a breeze

And perhaps this image explains why the part was replaced so that I wouldn't have any reliability concerns

So did it cure the rough running? TBs are generally pretty reliable IMO...

Yes, I agree. I got a new one due to the fact that I was going to manipulate it with the Sprint booster.

As for the rough running. I want to clarify, the idle is stable, but i can hear the engine running badly. There is definitely some timing adjustment going on from the DME to compensate for the issue. Sometimes, It's almost as if it is a faint misfire but I haven't pinpointed it out, and unfortunately, i am not getting any codes via INPA/INSTA.

To add to the trouble shooting effort,
I also replaced my mass air flow sensor.

My e91 did the same thing you’re describing.
I suspected spark plugs but never solved it.

I'll take a look into that when I pull off the valve cover next month.
Thanks for bringing that up.

Those are the same ones I got or VERY similar.
What did you pull 12v from?
Do the black modules make a buzzing noise?
Mine do. Very faint that would drown out by music, but it was odd.

The black module is an inverter so i can imagine that it would make some kind of noise. I don't hear anything at all from mine though.

I pulled the lighting power and signal from the window switch.

None yet. The door panels were easy because the strips fit in pretty well between the gaps.

Only place I found on the dash was right under the wood trim.
The issue is the bottom of the trim is 2” lower than where it’s inserted on the door panels so it looked a little odd.

I agree with you. The misalignment is an eye sore and why put something on when it doesn't look good right?

I think I have a solution to it, but its going to be kind of complicated. I haven't put pen to paper yet but I will revisit soon.

It would have been ideal if the light strips had some thin double sided tape to hold it on.
Another idea I haven’t tried yet is to pull back the top of the trim just enough to slide the back of the light strip between the dash and trim and push the trim back into place.

It might hold there. If not, will be waiting on your idea.
