So I consider myself a rather avid detailer (atleast my friends do) but I need a little insight on my weekend project of detailing my AW e93. Let me know if this is the correct way to do the following in order


- spray down car with power washer
- wash car with chemical guys clean slate to remove wax layer
- decontaminate with Iron-decon
- clay bar
- polish
Now this is where I'm confused, do I ceramic coat after polish, then wax? Or wax first then ceramic coat?

After polish use a paint prep spray along the lines of Optimum paint prep, CarPro Eraser or Kleanstrip prep-all.

Then ceramic coat and you are done. Top after curing but why screw up the hydrophobic properties of the coating

Ok cool, I've never dealt with ceramic coating so I wasnt sure the exact procedure leading up to applying it.

Spazz is correct. Just did a detail on my
Brother's new car to polish some light defects and apply CQuartz. While time consuming it was definitely worth it. No need for wax or a sealant when using a ceramic coating. Afterwards we applied Car Pro's reload to further protect the coating but not necessary. All in all it came out great.

BTW, What polisher are you using? I have a TorqX but after doing that car I may invest in a 15mm throw Maxshine for my occasional needs.

Cool that's what I used switching between a 5" and 3" backing plate when needed. It's serviceable and easy to handle. What pads do you have that you will be trying?

I use Lake Country flat pads with my Porter Cable 7424 including the 3 inch for the 3 inch backing plate.
The low profile keeps the rotation moving with a DA polisher.

With my Flex I use the LC Force pads.
The Lake Country pads have never let me down.

I just used the hex logic as well. Decent pads but to do a whole car I went through about 4 pads. I recently ordered some buff and shine uro fiber pads to have on deck bc I could have when a little more aggressive to get all the scratches.

I was planning on doing this job within the next few weeks. But my land lord just told me yesterday that she's selling the house and needs us out withing the next couple of months. So I'll probably have to do this when I move into my new place.

I would recommend a Yellow Cutting Foam Pad or even Purple cutting foam pad with a good compound then finish it with SF4500 Menzerna with black foam pad.

These foam pads will save you time, doing less passes as it cuts very good and AW tends to be a tough paint work to cut and polish.

Save some money and use Sonax PNS or Jescar Powerlock. Apply every after hand washing the vehicle.
