Many thanks to Jason and to Maximinimaus for their research and photos. Regretably, jade grey is not yet available in the USA. I think it will be a fairly popular choice, much like lemon has been in Europe and Canada. Why wouldn't BMWNA offer this option ?
Nice combo. I also ordered the jade grey interior with grey poplar trim but I'm still considering aluminum trim as in these pics. How did the poplar trim look in the canadian brochure?? Is it fairly dark with swirls of grey or actually more grey throughout?? I wish we had some real life pics of this new trim.

Update Sept 29 '06: Got the car...It rocks!!
Update Sept 08: Moved to Whitehorse and had to buy out of my lease. Miss the car a lot. Will return to BMW family in a couple of years.

Both the Canadian coupe brochure and another coupe brochure, intended for dealer sales purposes, that I saw today depict the grey poplar as a charcoal-grey with swirls of wood grain. Because of the wood grain, the colour tones vary from very dark, almost black, to medium grey. I think it will be a very classy look, similar to the maple anthracite in the 5 series.
I have found that the aluminum trim scratches and dents very easily. The wood grain will hold up much better IMO.

Today I was at the day of open house at BMW Regensburg where the E92 is build. Already many cars are completely build and are waiting for transport and shipment.
I saw space grey cars in the daylight and was disappointed. It looked not so brilliant as on the pics we already know. Maybe of any wax for shipment protection. At the assembly line it looked much better, maybe because of the bright light at the assemly line.
I saw space grey primarily in combination with coral red leather at the assembly line. Black primarily with cream beige. I saw also some cars with black interior.
At the assembly line, I was able to compare space grey with sparkling graphite.
Space grey appeared to me as the silver gray of the E46 coupe. Spark. graph. was much darker.
All cars I saw were either space grey or white or black or titanium silver. No other exterior colours.
There were also US models ready for shipment.
A very impressive day.

You're going to make a lot of people who ordered that color nervous.

Than they have to change to another colour, if they can change.
Any colour by BMW won't look in reality as brilliant as shown in published press pics. IMO

I am SOOO happy I order Space Grey... I love this color.

This most recent series of pics give the car an amazing stance on the road.. The camera can flatter, I can’t wait to test drive and then receive delivery in October here in the US..

This car is so classy and sporty at the same time.. I think this design will hold up for many years.
