Bought my car last week, 2011 328i. Love everything about it. Three days after purchase, and after topping off, my cel came on four codes including the 2A13.
Had the faults erased, drove about a week then bam! Cel came back yesterday. Im hoping its nothing i cant figure out.

I have 2009 335i 66k miles and i had 2A12, 2A13, 2A18 Codes, got DMTL pump replaced, checked for worn harness, no worn harness wires, after replacing DMTL Pump i am still getting same codes, i bought bosch pump, mechanic said drive it for around 100 miles and see if ses light comes on. If it does then new pump could be faulty. As of now SES light is on.

Any other ideas guys???

I just replaced mine Had four faults 2A13,2A12,2A18,2F6C I could clear them with a Carly Pro, but it still came back on a restart. Funny though,I had it at a shop for a oil pan gasket replacement and that's when it started. So I thought to check fuse #17 and found it missing. I put a new one in and the problem was solved. Who can you trust. I have a 335i E92 and replacing it was easy though

Leak Detection Pump

I replaced mine too and still had faults. Mysteriously fuse 17 was missing in the glove box. I had just had it in at a private shop for a oil pan gasket replacement. I put one in. That problem solved.

Had mine replaced last weekend, codes erased.
Driving daily for the past week and no more CEL.
Found the pump for under $54 shipped, paid my mechanic $40 for installation. Not bad at all.

Does anyone know if DMTL pump is anyway related to gas pump/handle click (stop pumping) prematurely at gas stations?

BTW, I have code 002A17 (DMTL tank leakage) but no check engine light. Car drives fine.

Yes. I'm dealing with the same issue now. Swapped out the pump still have that same code, as well as the gas pump constantly stopping prematurely. My next step is to check out the wiring that goes under the wheel well to the pump.

^ does your car throw any lights or just the code(s) when you scan? Please keep us posted because I am really trying to fix the DMTL pump code and gas pump prematurely stop. I believe these are connected.

Thanks for your time and efforts.

I really hate these codes. It seems like every time anyone post anything on the 2A15,16,17 BMW always says replaces the DTML pump. So everybody does because its cheap and super easy to change out but the damn codes always come back. I got this code 2 years ago and it always comes back. DTML pump is brand new code still comes back. I clear the codes, get all my emissions readiness monitors green and get inspected, but the code always ends up coming back.

So if everyone is changing the pump and everyone still has the code, why the hell is BMW still saying change the pump. They should know better by now.

So what else? A leak in one of the lines? I've seen multiple posts of people getting smoke tested and it comes back all good. WTF!!!

Smoke test is next for me because now it wont even stay gone long enough to get inspected. Hope it reveals a leak so at least i know what the problem is.

This emissions crap is just pure headache and pointless. Majority of greenhouse gases come from the cows :

I know this is a year old and I'm bumping it from the dead but did you resolve this? I replaced my DMTL and it still stops prematurely at the pump. Erased the code and waiting to see...I need to pass inspection.

Sorry just saw this. But yea I did after changing the pump I was confused that the code kept on coming back, I was rereading this thread and saw another member mentioned taking a look at fuse #17 in the glove box and low and behold it was a burnt fuse. Swapped the fuse and my check engine light immediately went away and no more dmtl codes. Check the fuse also fuse 17 is only the dmtl fuse on vehicles built after 9/07-9/2010 make sure you check your fuse booklet or look it up to confirm.

I have been dogged with this issue for nearly a year. I replaced the gas cap and finally changed the pump yesterday but I still get the error. Fuse #17 in back of the glove compartment (hope that the the right one for 2008) is good.

The one thing that bugs me is when I monitor voltages with Carly I see 0v to DMTL. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong. I will look at the connector to see if it is ok.

I have inpa, does anyone know how I can test the pump with it?

Check the wiring that comes out of the pump by the wheel well. If you replaced the pump and the fuse as well then the only thing left to check is the wiring. That is a common spot on the wire that gets damaged.

Im getting a 002A17, runs fine except at a stop, rpm drops from 700 to 400 rpm and quickly bounces up. It started last year has progressively worsened. I've noticed gas nozzle stopping more frequently when im filling up over the past month.

Go to page 3 on this thread someone posted some really detailed pics of the wiring. Did you try to replace the pump yet?

Not yet. I just ordered the part. Will probably do it next weekend. Did you have rough idle at times?

Yea I did but I couldn't tell you if it was the dmtl pump causing the rough idle since I was on leaky injectors and a 8 year old fuel pump

Hey guys, my car recently threw a 2a15 and 2a17 code and after filling my car up with gas, it cranks a lot before starting. Not sure if its related but I couldn't find any threads on this and did a general automotive search and heard that it's emissions related when this happens only after filling up with gas. Starts right up any other time. Has anyone had this issue? I'm going to have dmtl pump replaced next week.

This is driving me c crazy. Still getting error which give me rough idea and a other issues. Wire in back looks fine, is there any way to test voltage to it? Not pump but to wire.
