I am down in CU and driving a Black 328i with Maryland plates...but no mods yet.

JayReplay is that your car pictured in your signature...are those the style 162 wheels? I currently have the stock style 156 wheels but want to upgrade to the style 162, but have not seen them in person yet (they look great in pictures).

I have not seen too many modded cars around town. There is an occasional 5 or 7 series sitting outside House of Chrome with oversized rims...but that is about it.

Welcome! Nice to see a couple more enthusiasts here at UofI. Ive seen that 7 and not only are the wheels a mess, its two tone paint scheme is terrible. Has me wondering.. There are a few modded here on campus though, but also many stock. Are you a student at UofI?

You're right, my signature shows the OEM style 162s. But Ive got my OEM 18" m3s on right now with winter tires. When I swap back to the 162s, feel free to check em out.

Here are a couple pics of my OEM 162s.

JayReplay that is definitely the same 7 series. I have actually been inside the shop. Fun group of guys...but definitely not my style/attitude towards auto styling :-)

Are you a student at UofI?
Yeah, am in the MD/PhD program...so been here forever. But I have grown to love little old Chambana...life is so easy. Grew up in the suburbs of Washington DC, hence the Maryland plates. I Am finishing my last year of med now...so I spend most of my time at Carle and am seldom on campus. Not a lot of modded cars parked there ;-)

When I swap back to the 162s, feel free to check em out.
Thanks for the pics! Is the car lowered?

Basically, the way your car looks...is how I want my car to look! I want to upgrade to either the Forgestar F14 Two-Tone wheels or the BMW 162's (yes I definitely want to see your wheels when you swap back)...and want to install angel eye's. Would also like to talk to you about the roof rack, cause I may be getting a roof for my move to Cali this summer.

Did you install any of the iPod integration kits (BMW, Denison, Gateway, etc)? I am also shopping around for that since my car only has an aux port.

Thanks man. I've also been here for a while. Finished last year with a BS in Accounting and now finishing up my MS in Accounting in May.

The OEM 162s Ive had since day 1 and I never get tired of them. Definitely want to keep them for a while longer. They give the car a clean look especially when you're on a lowered stance. The Forgestar F14s are one of my favorite aftermarket wheels. 19" in silver or gunmetal would match up well with a black e90. What color are you planning on getting the Forgestars in? Two-tone?

Check out my angel eyes sometime. I've got LUX 5.1s and they are probably my favorite mod. Also, I sold my roof rack last summer since I also sold my bike. It was the OEM BMW base roof rack. No complaints with it. As for the iPod integration, I don't think Dension has a kit out for the e90s yet, but I think it is in the works. I have the Dension Ice-link on my e53 x5 and its a great piece. For the e90, I was thinking of the gateway blue-tooth integration but haven't had a chance to buy it yet.

Here is a crappy phone pic of my ride. I have a little E90Post sticker on the passenger window. I got high beamed by a black e90 today but I don't know if it's anyone on the boards. Looked completely stock to me.

JayReplay whats the plan after finishing the MS...off into the real world? I have been avoiding it like the plague...but I am done in May too and will be off to work in Southern California.

They give the car a clean look especially when you're on a lowered stance.

Absolutely...that is why I have been digging those wheels so much. It really seems like a "timeless" style. How much did you drop the car and what springs did you use?

"What color are you planning on getting the Forgestars in? Two-tone?"
Yeah...there is a polished silver and black style that I think will go really well on a black car. For example:

http://www.**********s.com/images/Pr..._2toneside.jpg

"Check out my angel eyes sometime."
Deal...I definitely want to see. I have been looking at the Lux series...very nice. Did you install yourself or have someone in town do it?

"As for the iPod integration, I don't think Dension has a kit out for the e90s"
So from what I have gathered the Denison Gateway 500 is compatible with e90 (2007+) and there is also an AVR module that will send iPod video to the Nav or aftermarket screens (though I do not think I will be doing that). The only other unit for e90'ssI have seen is from mObridge. I am leaning towards the mObridge at the moment.

EYE4SPEED - I stay away from the Illini thing...still a lot of drama in my grad department about it. I did undergrad an Univ of Maryland so whenever that issue comes up I just say that I am a "Terp" (fear the turtle as we say). :-)

saifsiddiqui - welcome to Chambana...what brings you down? You car looks excellent! Are those bumper plugs in your front? I have been trying to find a solution to my lisence plate holes :-/ Also, do you have aftermarket Angel eyes or are your stock?

I cannot say I know of any meetings but I can recommend an align place. Not sure how they price to other places (definitely less than the dealership) ...but hands down they are the nicest and most professional/honest game in town. The place is Beaumont Alignment Plus (812 Dennision Dr Champaign, IL 61820 / (217) 352-2328). They do al mechanical work. I (along with many friends) have have going to them for 9+ years and have never had a poor experience.

whats the plan after finishing the MS...off into the real world? I have been avoiding it like the plague...but I am done in May too and will be off to work in Southern California.

After my MS, I'll be working for an accounting firm in downtown Chicago. I start in September. At least I still get one last summer break! Right now, I'm studying for the CPA which I hopefully will complete by this summer.

Good for you being almost done! I'm guessing residency is next? What specialty are you pursuing?

Absolutely...that is why I have been digging those wheels so much. It really seems like a "timeless" style. How much did you drop the car and what springs did you use?

In the pictures, the car is on H&R Sport springs with ZSP shocks. Lowers the car approximately 1.5" all around. Quite happy with the stance, and it's perfect for getting through Champaign (railroad crossings, plaza ramps, etc.).

Deal...I definitely want to see. I have been looking at the Lux series...very nice. Did you install yourself or have someone in town do it?

All the work on my car is done by A&L Autobody/IND in Palatine.
1979 W Dundee Rd
Palatine, IL 60074

Talk to Anthony, he'll take care of you.

I'll have to look into that, although I don't have iDrive. Would like a clean solution to iPod integration by this summer. But so far Aux cable to iPod works perfectly.

Yeah...there is a polished silver and black style that I think will go really well on a black car.

Yeah the Forgestars will look great. The black inner spokes gives it a unique look. Just be sure get some lowering springs or coilovers and you're set!

ihsanshaik - You two will both be in good hands with Dr. Francis. Are you prepping for Step 2? I have mine next month...and since I early matched (with a prelim) I have absolutely no motivation to study :-/ I live down the street from PASS HQ (over in Ashland Park)...so I may have to come by the PASS parking lot and sneak a close-up peak of those bumper plugs. I was looking at them this past weekend and debating whether to go that route.

JayReplay - I hear that CPA exam is a monster...get off the forums and go study :-)

I am doing the mods in baby steps for now...and will most likely hold off on new suspension and wheels until after I get out to California (residency in Pediatric Neurology). I am hoping to get the iPod thing done soon...and then would also like to get the headlights upgraded. Hopefully the coding thing at VS Motor-sports pulls together...cause I am very excited to see some of the changes they can pull off.

Ive been looking into the VSmotorsports coding as well. I'm hoping they can get the digital speedometer, alarm chirp, and other neat features sorted out.

We need a UIUC mini-meet soon.

Neuron 22- Hey man, come by any time to check out the plugs. Like Ihsan said, I'll be at the Pass center the whole month. Dr. Francis is definitely legit! Just got out of my first day and feeling good. Haha.

I got the bumper plugs at bumperplugs.com. They overcharge like crazy but I couldn't stand the holes. And the angel eyes at Lux H8.

JayReplay- Thanks for the compliment! And yea, I'm only here for the month. Hope to see y'all driving around or something. I would definitely be down for a meet!
