GREAT WORK! I have identical damage that I'd love to take a stab at myseld. How did you match the silver color so exactly? Did you have a color code for the wheel?

I am putting my first coat of paint and it seems more sparkly (lack of a better term) will this turn out better by the time I put more coats and apply clear coat? Thanks

Well guys is looks like 1Z Einszett Silver has been discontinued in the US kind of like Wurth was back in 2006 and 2007, the only option now is the Wurth and it appears that retailers raise the price of it since 1Z is no longer available. No one seems to know why it was pulled.

I was not able to find the Dupli-color at any of the local stores

I finally bought the Wurth at Autogeek.net there are a number of other places that carry it as well right now.

What I found interesting is I stopped in probably 6 or 7 Pepboy, Auto zones and Advance Auto Parts who all claim to carry Dupli-color and every single one of them was sold out of Wheel Silver and could not tell me when it would be coming in. I called a few others and same story. Well Dupli-color website claims Wal-mart carries their paint, I think someone forgot to tell them Wal-mart now only carries Rust-oleum paints.

I ordered form autogeek last week and still have not gotten confirmation it was shipped, I think I need to call them and see what gives.

BTW, rust-oleum wheel silver is not a match it has too much and too large metal flack in it.

I can tell you the Wurth Wheel Silver is not a perfect match, it is close but you can still see a difference up close. Also, because it is lacquer paint and the fact the wheels are on one continuous surface, (i.e. flat) it is not easy to spray on the wheels and get nice smooth surface.

In my case I had scratches across a 1/3 of wheel so it was not a small patch job, so I had to paint a large section. Because of this the area between each spoke I got lots of over spray and cause the surface to be rough due to the lacquer drying so quickly. I ended up wet sanding with 1200 grit and then buffing out the paint before clear coating.

Question: since I have an aluminum lip would I leave out the primer and alloy coating steps? could I just sand down the aluminum putty?

It really is. You can read up all you want about how to please a woman, you can look at all the diagrams in the world, but just like the clitoris, you won't know what the hell an apex is before you actually find it.
