GM1912 software

I stumbled onto BL's GM software during an attempt to find the end of the internet while on night shift. Anyone have any issues with it beside not using the correct cable? I did BL's 330 tune a few months ago and did not know this existed. Does anyone think I could run into issues flashing it a few month later that other software (330 tune)

If you wanna wait for it I'm flashing my car tonight with it and can report back, I flashed the 330 tune a few weeks ago. It was released last week or so. Should be no issue though it's mostly a stock tune for the e83 x3 with the high powered n52

Yeah, it's not really a full tune - but it should work better with the 330i software than the stock 328i calibration.

I just did it.
flash didn't take long, maybe 3 minutes.
bimmer geeks pro cable.

first drive had some ugly shift flares and other strange behavior for the first 2 or 3 miles.
It's mostly sorted itself out after 10 miles, but plan on needing to coddle it for a while I guess.

the batch file worked fine

Yep I did it yesterday though I didn't get weird shifting after I did it, everything was smoother than before and seemed faster aswell as more direct

I suppose that's going to be a transmission to transmission difference I imagine.

maybe an adaptation reset should be performed after the flash?

I'm just going to drive it moderately and let it do what it does as long as it's not slipping.

I haven't tried manual mode yet, but I'm looking forward to paddle shifts that don't take a second, here's hoping.

My paddles are better but it's obviously not super fast just faster than before. I didn't change the fluid but I had it done a year or so ago. Would have to change it again and see if it makes more of a difference

I see yeah I've got about 14k miles on my fluid so maybe I should change it again, I will in the next month. This transmission really needs something like xhp on the 335s I've driven cars on "stage 3" and it's quite quick to shift, though idk if the n52 community has enough people with automatics that are willing and knowledgeable to pull it off.

I bet it's the adaptations. You could reset them, but probably that will cause more trouble than it's worth. I bet an Italian tune up will take care of it.

i had reset the adaptations when i changed the fluid and it was not as bad.

It will sort itself out in a few miles I'm sure.

just a heads up though that you shouldn't do this if you can't afford the time to drive it a bit before you absolutely need it to perform 100%.

Right. Like if you're going to your wedding or headed to work in the morning.. probably not a good idea to flash your car.

Not that I have ever had to be rescued from a random parking lot flash or anything.. lol

I have a bad habit of doing stuff like this right before I need to use my car lol. On my old civic snapped off coolant temp sensor before I need to drive to work, replace perfectly working thermostat in school parking lot and lose a bolt down the engine bay.. many more

I've bricked both the E30 and E90 during lunchtime at work, lol. On the E30, I decided I really needed the latest Megasquirt firmware one day. Had to call my wife to bring me a laptop from home to recover it. She was pissed.

The E90 was because of my original sketchy wiring on a hard wired BDM port. Luckily, I still had the original unmodified DME (I had cloned it onto a random eBay DME for testing). So I had a friend drive me home, get the original DME, and swap it in after work.

I ran into issues flashing it because I didn't charge my battery beforehand like an idiot, now everything is ok though.

If your battery died that fast - I'd consider replacing it.

It sat for a good two weeks beforehand, never had any other electrical related issues so unless something starts popping up I'll hold on it for now.

I just always hook it to a power supply

only takes a minute and then you don't worry about it.
