Hi Guys, I'm having an issue trying to code my kombi lights to come on with my DRL. There is a setting for it in the kombi M_TAG_SKALENBELEUCHTUNG (instrument lights on with drl) which i have set to aktiv, but they still don't come on even with the headlight switch in auto position. When i did a forum search quite a few others have had the same issue.

Has anybody had success coding this feature and if so would it bepossible to get a copy of your kombi trc file please? Cheers!

Do you have low or high kombi?

Pretty sure it's a low. I think the high kombi is the one with the cruise control indicator around the speedo dial, is that correct?

I don't have access to low in the US, it was never used here. I know it works in all high kombi. Can you verify that it's worked a low kombi anywhere? Could be that its not possible in a low kombi.

I think i am just going to fit a high kombi to my car. It really needs to be changed anyway as i have retrofitted cruise control but have no cruise set speed indicator.

Is it just a matter of changing the eeprom from the my cluster to the used cluster?

You can try it but if it was me I'd virginize the high kombi and default code it to my car since you've changed the VO for CC already.

Thought i would update this thread as there are quite a few threads on this subject that just end with no resolution. I ended up purchasing a second hand HIGH SPEC cluster for $35usd, and then virginized it using an R270 programmer and soic 8 eeprom clip. Coded it to my car and then coded M_TAG_SKALENBELEUCHTUNG to aktiv and it's now working.

So if you are having the same issue, you probably have a LOW SPEC cluster and for reasons unknown the option to have cluster lights on with drl (M_TAG_SKALENBELEUCHTUNG) is present in the coding file, but it doesn't work. So you need a new or secondhand "virginized" HIGH instrument cluster.

Very interesting thread. I’d love to get my DRLs to also light up my cluster too. How do you tell the difference between a high and low cluster?

I’m stateside with an e91 2011 328i.

That's easy, no US spec E9x car came with low clusters.
