What does it take to build an E series CIC bench test/flash rig?
I am interested in building a minimal bench test setup so I can flash 3 of my retrofitted CICs in E series. I am not doing this to make money. I live in Phoenix and my garage is way to hot this time of year.
I have a lot of the parts already. Spare screen/cable/power, 12v power supply, controller, and even a JBBF from my E70. What other modules do I need? Phoenix has nice pick n pull lots where modules are $20 and wiring pigtails are even less. I assume once the above is functioning, I can just hook the icom fiber directly to the back of the CIC? |

ebay has some chinese emulators to run headunits on the table
if you have CAN interface and professional IT background you can analyse which can messages trigger headunit and run them off PC CAN interface

Basic you need is quadloc loom and an emulator that will emulate ignition and wake.
I made a better one using a cas/key/jbr/obd and quadlock, so no problems with emulators etc. Yes, Icom b direct to the cic will work fine.

You will need the following:
1. OBD connector 2. JBBF 3. Quadlock connector 4. 4 pin connector (for idrive) 5. 12 pin connector for CID 6. fiber optic cables and connector. 7. proper wiring That will suffice for your needs. |
