E93 N55 Strange Grinding/clicking Noise on idle (no Lifter or pcv Noise!)
Hi, I bought an 2011 e93 335i manual with 150k miles on it. It was driven solely by an elderly woman on the highway. When I got it, the vanos recall was still not Dome. Also the electronic valve for the wastegate was broken since about 60k miles. I took the car to the dealer to get the vanos recall done and also got a brand new valve cover. The valve for the wastegate was also exchanged to a new one. The car idles rough sometimes and once i got the error 28A0 and a cel. No other error codes. I also changed spark plugs and the coils. I still have to check if the CEL comes back on. So my 2 problems are: rough idle sometimes, exhaust sounds also quite rough at idle but totally fine at about 800 rpm and higher. The second problem is a strange grinding/clicking noise at idle when the engine is up to normal temperature. Link to youtube video here, you have to listen very closely eg at seconds 7 to 9. Here you go: I have no clue at all what this is.... I also noticed that the injector on cyl1 is making louder clicking noise than the others, you can also feel it when touching the fuel line to the injector. Is there any way to check the injectors using rheingold? I would be very happy if you have any experience on these issues, Best, Ingo Last edited by Burli81; 06-23-2019 at 02:37 PM.. |
