BMW Maintenance, DIY, Indie or BMW?
I've completed my first service myself on my E92, I plan on keeping the car for number of years hence I aren't bothered about dealer history. IO am interested to know if other DIY'ers write in the service book themselves or just keep a record of receipts and a excel spreadsheet.

I actually comment in the service book and keep the receipts as evidence. At least this shows the history of your servicing. Sometimes i think servicing thats been done by a competent enthusiast is better than that of a garage anyway.

I just fill out my service book myself & keep all my receipts & invoices.

I keep a spreadsheet on my PC with all of my service records, parts I have installed, miles, dates, etc,etc....
I do everything myself......the only time I let someone else touch my car is when it gets inspected.....and I hate it. |

I once made the mistake of adding up the cost of all the receipts & invoices for my e34 M5, I sold it a month after finding out how much it had cost me over the three & a half years that I'd owned it....that & I thought I was going to get a driving ban for being caught driving over a 100mph twice within 40 minutes by the same mobile speed camera van

I keep all receipts, write the history in the book, and take before/after photos.
Been doing my own servicing on this car for the last 8 years and 110000 miles, big file, I don’t want to add it up!!! |

Yeah, I was caught in December & my court hearing was the following September, 6 points on a previously clean license & a £800 fine payable on the day.
I was happy with that, I thought I'd get a ban for sure.

I was once doing 130mph on the A38 one time, I look in my mirror there's an unmarked S3 with the blue lights on, I pull into the left lane, he simply drives past me! Safe to say there was brown stain on my pants! To this day I wonder why I wasn't pulled

Maintenance, servicing, general repairs, mots, tyres, brakes, new head gasket. I broke the gearbox track daying & had to have it replaced, also had to have the self levelling suspension renewed. Replaced the drivers door & paint due to someone driving into it in a car park & driving off. Loved that car but it was a money pit but am glad I got to enjoy a proper M car
