How to stop car from powering off when installing Cobb?

I have a competition grade audio system in my car. One of my friends has been tuning the car, and so to avoid draining the battery, I bought an IOTA DLS-55 with IQ4: http://www.iotaengineering.com/dls55.htm

This is a power supply/intelligent charger that provides 13.4 volts at 55 amps to the battery. Yet the car still powers off after 10 minutes.

I want to install a Cobb OTS map so I can gather logs as I am getting a tune from PTF. Obviously, I don't want to brick the engine by having the power turn off. What else can I do to stop the car from turning off??

Do you have an amp connected to subs for the audio system? You might be able to disconnect that to save some of the power.

I can turn the head unit off so that the amps etc. aren't drawing power.

Pull the main power fuse/fuses to the amp and turn off the radio. The stock deck will always provide signal to the amps and keep them on otherwise. If that doesn't work, hook up an addiotional battery to yours with jumper cables (not another car).

I don't think the amplifiers are drawing more than 55 amps continuously while there is no music playing, so I don't think it's a power issue.

I wonder if the Cobb puts the car in to some maintenence mode to prevent it from turning off?

I've never left it on long enough to see.

You are turning the car ON right (but not starting engine)? Not just in "accessory" mode?

+1 this happened to me. Gotta hit the start button twice.

Okay. I think it should stay on for at least 20 mins when I hit the start button. Worst case, I may drive down to Cobb HQ (10 mins from my house) and get them to do it.

I have a Dynavin aftermarket HU. I might just time it first, just to be sure.

Are you doing the following:

FOB inserted into slot
Start button 1 or twice, until fuel gauge has actual reading
Door closed for the duration of the process

I'm confused? Why would ur car turn off on its own? When ignition is on you should be good. Cobb recommends plugging ur battery to a charger. If it does "brick" It's not game over. Cobb will recognize it and go into recovery mode. Happened to me when mine froze.

get in your car close the door. hook up cobb then give the ignition 2 clicks on the start button....without starting car) then load map while youre sitting in there. if you open the door while its loading the write can fail, or dme goes into sleep mode causing it to fail. just stay in the car with the door shut until it finishes. i always do it like this and have never had it fail on me.

Car will turn off on its own after a certain amount of time if the engine is not running to save the battery from draining.

I got Cobb to work no problem. Start button was once for me (not twice) to get the fuel gauge working (this important piece of info is in a FAQ on Cobb's website but not in any manuals). I hooked up the power supply, turned off the headunit, turned off the daytime running lights, and turned off the A/C.

I installed aggressive stage 1, did some logs, sent them to PTF, got a PTF map, uninstalled the OTS map, and installed the PTF map. Everything is good. Thanks to everyone for all their suggestions. The time to load a map is a little longer than for the Mazda Speed 3 but all in all, reasonably fast.

Glad to here that it worked out.

You picked a good time to go PTF; I got this message from Dzenno last night: "Over the past few weeks we’ve made large progress in the maps with completely revamped boost control, torque management and throttle mapping. Here’s your new map updated entirely with the new changes in place. Let’s give this a shot and review."
