I wouldn't do either option, personally, but if you intend on keeping the car forever, using ZF fluid and returning it to FCP on your next fluid change might be economical. Otherwise, I would buy the hard parts from FCP and use MERCON SP which is the same fluid used in Ford ZF transmissions at a fraction of the cost. It's red unlike Lifeguard fluid.

As far as getting the mechatronic sleeves, if it's leaking from there, replace, if not leave alone unless you just want to do it as a preventative measure.

First, are you SURE you have the ZF trans? GM has a metal oil pan, only ZF has the plastic pan.

I used the cheaper kit, along with a few extra bottles of the TopTec 1800, and bought all the Mechatronic seals separately. All the parts fit, and worked, just fine. Swapping out the Mechatronic seals is cheap insurance, once you have the pan off already. It can save you some major grief down the road if any of the old ones fail.

I think the 7th liter is for insurance, depending on how level the car is, the temperature of the transmission and how long you let it drip, etc.

+1 get the cheaper kit and add on the sleeves as you did.

I would change the differential oil too.

Yes, I used a bit more than 8 bottles. After draining the oil, I left the drain plug out, started the engine, and let it idle for a few seconds, to get most of the remaining oil into the pan. Without that step, you'll only get about 6 quarts out.
