Looking at a GLE 350d...retired and looking at grabbing a little trailer to do some travelling.

+1 for this. I crossed shopped the 328d wagon. All wheel drive and extra room while not impacting fuel economy and sport characteristics would have been nice for sure. Oh well, don't think they would have sold anymore of these cars and they would have just increased model proliferation...

Though they seem to be a fan of this ic late.

Of course we all know this will NEVER happen in the USA. I just ordered and picked up (euro delivery) probably the nearest thing functionally to a 350d wagon, being a 340i GT. Yea the fuel gauge moves much faster on the 340i than the 335D. These 2 cars do have one thing in common. They both will be produced (in the USA) for only 3 years. They have already announced the discontinuation of the 3 GT series in the US at the end of the chassis run.

Either an E Class diesel, a 535d, or another 335d.

I am holding on to my 335d and will probably go the electric route when it's replaced. A Tesla Model S with ludicrous mode may be somewhat affordable in 7 years or maybe settle with the fastest Model 3 that is available. If the 335d plays nice for a while, I would love to add a Sportmobile E350 to the stable for weekend trips and camping. Off-road beast + camper made somewhat affordable with an RV loan.

Planning to go the similar route. (Ftype-R could be on the list)

looking to keep it as a beastly commuter currently only car. but 2nd car I am eyeing E90/92 M3's (poo MPGs) and maybe M2 or M240i will be cheap when im back in the market of a new car.

or, 328d touring and just make the 335d hardcore. buuuut if cost are the near M3 or 2 series might sway to the gas side for a fun car. and can switch between cars when diesel get high.

SO MANY OPTIONS!

I give it 2 years or less before used model S's drop below $20k. Check out cars.com and you'll see a few are already down into the mid/upper 30s'.

Well I definitely will be keeping my 335d as a daily until it finally has a catastrophic engine failure. The next car I am eyeballing is a 997.2 Turbo S, friend of mine just picked one up and I've been searching high and low for the right deal ever since.

I'd like to keep it forever, but maybe an E90 M3 (none of my friends will know it's a new car, lol) or 987.5 Cayman. I love Caymans. Cayman GT4 may be my all-time favorite car.

D.
Done.

In the end, as I approached 200,000km with the D with not a single major issue, but moving into another phase of life, I left the D behind for someone else to enjoy. For me, I was perhaps lucky with none of the problems many seem to have. The D was a great ride, given me almost 8 years of an efficient "Ultimate Driving" experience! All the best to those still doing the D thing!

Cheers
D.

Honestly I don't know. I was floating the idea of possibly selling my 335d and getting an Accord Touring or Subaru WRX/Legacy (AWD would be nice). Or maybe keep the D and just add a Legacy Limited. I read the new 2018+ models finally come with Apple Carplay and Android Auto. The revised Legacy looks much better than before IMO.

I'd like to get a e9x M3, but I don't want to have two BMWs considering how expensive they are to maintain.

I'd probably wait for a good diesel wagon to come out. I'd have to tune the hell out of a 328d wag to make it worth my time. But later in life I'd love a AWD diesel wagon.

Speaking of dreams....I saw a beautiful M Series X6 last night. That thing was gorgeous. I'd love to replace the D with one of those, but with a new sticker price in the six figures, even finding a used one at a decent price seems highly unlikely.

Might be my last fun car. Only drove about 15k in 2 years, now at 65k. May never drive another gasser again unless we lose our choice in the matter. Otherwise 911 Turbo.
