Paying for a short drive in an exotic

So the 458 italia is my dream car, it seems to be the universally accepted best driver's car ever.

I've never driven one, and my life trajectory seems to indicate that I will never be in a position to own one.

A local exotic car company offers test drives for $150 cdn, a 20 min drive through countryside roads. You follow a lead car who keeps you in check.

Part of me wants to experience its amazingness, but part me thinks why taste an elixir that will never be yours...will everything else pale in comparison, will I be ruined for cars?

Anyone try something similar, regrets? or hell yeahs?

Pay the $150 and drive the car. Your only regret will be not doing it if you have the chance

That is a cheap price to pay. Do it!
Try Exoticsracing.com in Vegas. I drove most of them around the race track. Never regret it. You find out if they are as nice to be in one as it is to look at one. Lambos look fantastic, but I found them very uncomfortable to drive. Ferraris are nice drivers.

150 for a 20 minute drive sounds great. Although i would suggest doing the race track experience in vegas for a few $100 since you can really push the car there to the top of 2nd, 3rd, 4th gear. only advice i can give you is the throttle and steering are very touchy and the back end will kick a little even in 'race' mode. feels like a big go-kart.

here's mine.

I would easily pay a ticket to US for this, not even the $150.

I drove a McLaren 570s Sprint on a track in Dubai for 8 laps and it was probably the best experience of my life. No lead car with an instructor and they want you to go all out. I am now trying to figure out how to buy a 570s lol.

i wouldn't say that. every car has their strengths and weaknesses. My GTR was faster A to B, my f30 was more comfortable and i could actually hear the stereo. I could argue my FRS felt more connected to the road than any of the above. My dream car is still a carrera GT but those are like 4x the price.

Out of all the cars I've ever driven, the 458 was by far my favorite. I actually disliked the Lambo, the quality seemed so suspect and the car didn't feel that quick.

Here is me with the 458 when I had the opportunity to drive it for part of a day.

Been thinking about the same... down here in South Florida we have many options... I considered doling out the whole $1100 bucks and getting a 458 or Huracan for a day... still a little on the fence but may do it soon.

That's a really inexpensive fee. Just do it.

I need to do another 'exotic' drive day soon; haven't done one in about eight years. The last one I did included an F355, as well as both an R8 and a Gallardo ... and like usshelena725 , I actually disliked the Lambo, particularly compared back-to-back with the R8.

Guy who owns that business had one of the first 358s in the country (this was late summer 2010) at the time, and his personal car at the time was an SLR McLaren. I can only imagine what his tours include nowadays ...

Yep, glad to see I'm not the only one to think that. I would definitely recommend the experience, though.

I was lucky in that I sat on an advisory board with the owner of Gotham Dream Cars, so we got these things to drive around for a few hours, Gratis.

Couple more.

Another vote for the "do it" option. If this is your dream car, that's not a bad price to experience it. I see no reason why it would ruin any other car - it's clearly a special occasion type thing.

Read the fine print on these...a lot of them have some really stupid daily mileage restrictions.
