I've heard some ppl say that this isn't a NEW recall, but rather an OLD one with updated/amended instructions just for BMW... if u read the notice, you'll see that it just states what a BMW tech is supposed to do if a vehicle comes in for the "open recall"... so this being an update to an old recall makes more sense and is way more likely than it being a new recall altogether. Dont get me wrong, my build date is 11/07 so it falls in there, and I ABSOLUTELY WISH it were a new recall, but in reality we all have a gut feeling it isn't ☹

This is correct. The bulletin is an update to a previous one, which from the beginning it did NOT state that. The most recent bulletin as already been revised once see post 133 the highlighted section.

Even if it's not a new recall I think I'm good because I asked my SA about my car's history and they said in 2011 they "checked" the injectors and replaced the hpfp, now idk if my car went through the recall it would say replaced injectors, I also have index 7s which leads me to believe that I'm still good

All the excitement...

It's an extension from 2011 for people that did not have it done. Just confirmed with the BMW shop foreman. They only replaced the ones that were defective. At this point they will flat out replace all six.

So let's say if they replaced 1 cylinder in 2011 then you can't go in for this recall again? because if so that's really dumb if they know all of them are going to defect at one point or the other. I still have high hopes since they said they "checked injectors" asked if they replaced them and they said it only says checked injectors

Yeah. It does not matter if they replaced one or six injectors in 2011. I had four replaced in 2011. I don't qualify for replacement.
It only applies to someone that has not brought the car in for the initial 2011 recall.

Hello everyone, Does anyone know if this recall is valid worldwide? I live in Mexico so I don't know if it applies here, also do you need to be the original owner of the car and have all services done at the dealership? or what is the criteria to make valid this recall besides build date?

Thanks for any info guys

bummer, at least maybe index 12s might drop from FCP due to this recall, thanks for letting me know I'm not a candidate

So new info I just got from a nearby dealership, they said if you had 1 or 2 injectors replaced in 2011 you are still eligible because they realized that the fix of 1 or 2 injectors wasn't really good and that they should've replaced all 6 but some dealerships replaced them if they were bad and some repaced all 6, so if you got it replaced all 6 you wouldn't be eligible for the recall.

ps. I don't know if that info is true but that's SA words and I don't know if it's true.

To Joeyy_e92 - would you happen to know the name of the dealership that you went to?

That is really encouraging news you posted below, as I only had 1 injector replaced back in 2012 under the original recall.

Thank you Sir

Just wanted to let everyone know.
I just got home from a trip to Valencia BMW in SoCal. They did the recall as soon as they did some looking into it. I have a 2007 e92 335i with build date 07/07. They didn't know what I was talking about at first but they should know now for the future. Super easy and smooth process. I now have 6 brand new index 12's in my car AND they covered spark plugs as well!

I just called them and talked to a female service advisor, she had no idea what I was talking about

How exactly did you enlighten them?

What Index injectors did you have before? Also, what did you tell them?

That's good news! Maybe the more cars that get addressed BMW will start releasing the recall for affected VINs.

EVERYONE THIS IS REAL!!!!!
I read the entire thread on this topic along with a few other ones on other forums..... decided to call my local dealer. The SA asked for VIN but I clarified that I’d like to also provide the SIB number that was mentioned earlier in this post. I was on hold for about 20 minutes before I was told that I need to bring it in to have it completed.
Got to the dealer. Great SA, handled everything in about 5 minutes. Getting an enterprise rental on BMW. Everything went literally super smooth!!!!

+1 and did you check what Index they put in after all was done?

Ok guys so to clarify a few things... BMW kept my car. Right now I am in a rental 2020 530i! The SA said it would take a few days.
Also, for those who are wondering if they qualify or not, I think I’ve figured out the criteria....
So my 335i is a 09/2007 built. Before all of this I’ve called BMW to see what recalls have been performed prior to when I bought the car. Found out that in 2011, I had 3 injectors replaced on bank 1 with index 7s. These must be on currently because on bank 2 I had a 4-4-5 index.
Basically, if you had them replaced before, it doesn’t matter. If your VIN doesn’t show, also doesn’t matter. The idea is that if you have the correct build date and you NEVER had ALL SIX installed, then they will replace them all with index 12, along with new spark plugs.
