Just today this crossed my mind. Since turbo project is out, the other alternative would be...

Get ESS supercharger, AA headers, your BOV from turbo project, and your tune.

If I could get my hand on a cheap SC, I would def do it.

Btw. Andrew from Active (AA), mentioned that they developed a supercharger, but had issue with releasing boost and didn't know how to resolve it since N52 is almost vacuum less engine. It seems like you may have figured out a solution to the blow off valve issue with your turbo project. You could develop something together.

Or heck, it might be simpler for you to get a SC and see what it can do, develop a kit, and sell it. From one of the posts, ESS mentioned that they sold 100+ of these kits. So... you might have a business case.

And when BPC does this they should offer one of the noisy head units as an option. I like the way the centrifugal blowers sound.

I still find it hard to believe that they sold 100+ kits...

The biggest problem I see with the ESS N52 E9x Vortech supercharger kit is the lack of an intercooler.

OK yeah the tune can be better and the use of headers in the tune would be nice. But beyond that the problem is the high IATs.

If you really want to make it work and be better, Make a new intake manifold with a built in intercooler, like by VF for the E46 M3 kit of theirs. Would be easy enough and don't even need to use/keep the throttle body, leave it out and tune it for no TB.

It would be awesome to make it work with the N51, despite the minor differences in hardware the software side would be the main challenge.

True. I have full confidence in BPC though, they are doing amazing things with the N52/51 motors!

damn! I was about to hop all over this but don't have headers installed since ESS won't support the tune for anything but factory intake and headers.

Buy used headers and have them install it and tune it.

What's the problem? You'll have a beast of a n52 SC'ed especially in the right hands. You saw how they unleashed the n52 turbo, just saying...

Meth would be the easiest way to combat high AITs and add octane which is a win win for FI. Much easier and less expensive than a custom IM with a build in IC as that IC would have to be water cooled which makes EVERYTHING more complicated and expensive. Just saying that is the route I would go/suggest. Water also can only be cooled to ambient temp unless you get creative while the Meth will be consistent.

Can BPC get and istl headers for testing and then return it to original configuration or if they work keep them.

I was interested in sc but only with headers. I think the gains would be much higher but ESS did not want to continue tuning it to resolve issues. BPC most likely knows N52 better than any other tuner after turbo kit testing.

The ESS tune is so bad for the supercharged M54B30 with MS45 its nearly undriveable. No surprise they couldnt tune MSV70 either, which is pretty much the same. Too bad because the kit is pretty nice otherwise..
