Recommended refresh bits for my 155k miles e91 AWD
Good morning to fellow e90/e91 enthusiasts!
My e91 AWD has a set of ST coilovers that are less than 2 years old but the rears are too low for my hips and I cannot raise them any more (my mechanic tried too) since they are at their lowest threads and they start to spin. Want to get a set of B8/B12 kit and wondering while I am there, what else should be replaced to refresh the suspension/chassis back to original or improve from original. Which Lemforder kit (there are multiple ones when googling)? Should I add lower sway bars, control arms, etc? This car is my DD in the Northeast and although I like the wheels to fill in the wells (will be upgrading to 18" wheels for the summer and 17" for winter), not really into the slammed look of the ST coilovers. Love the sporty handling of the e90 chassis but not into too stiff of a ride. Thanks in advance for any and all recommendations! -Hoi |

My e90 is on 154k atm.
get under there and see what's loose... easiest way really. i found that most the rear suspension arms last a very long time. the only one i had issue with was the track control arm which is the furthest one back if that makes sense, part number 33322406290. i believe they are grease filled bushes and mine leaked out. worth checking the rubber boots on ball joint 33326792553. they tend to split and then cause squeaking. for the rear dampers themselves, i got all new mountings and hardware so: FEBI BILSTEIN 109528 kit SACHS 900 127 Dust Cover Kit SACHS 802 547 Top strut mount and bmw part 33526764418 which tend to rust and break. best to replace. I'm sure some of these kits can be had from lemforder and other companies but hope this gives you some insight. |
