Not correct, you'll see gains, but not nearly as much as with the software. on a 325i, the biggest gains are down low below 2800rpm (+15 to +20 ft/lbs), and more moderate (~10whp) gains up top.
But there will be a hole in the powerband around 4000-4500, until you get the tune. Last edited by mike-y; 09-23-2013 at 09:10 PM.. |

Tell them you did the conversion. They'll tune your ECU file to the proper spec.

Conversion that's why I'm asking so I could just tell them what I want you know what I'm saying.. Bc if the software I need is the Active Autowerke E9X 325 & E9X 330 (2006-2007) Performance Software I could just buy it and have it put on but if it's the 330is software I could just reflash my ecu with the 330i's software.. Was the Active Autowerke E9X 325 & E9X 330 (2006-2007) Performance Software the one you used? |

http://store.activeautowerke.com/act...ware-p124.aspx and GET THIS!! http://store.activeautowerke.com/act...px?Thread=True Reason you want the tool is so that you can do the flash yourself. If shops in your area are clueless than this is the way to go. If you need a reflash you can do it within minutes and not have to worry about finding a shop and having to pay everytime something has to get fine tuned. |

when you order the tune from AA, they ask you your mods. you say "325i with the 3stage manifold (or 330i manifold)" and they'll modify the correct files for the tune. You can't just flash 330i software - unfortunately, it's not that simple on these cars as each car's software is bound to it's VIN, and individual files are sometimes located in different areas of the software.
your local shop will need to download your car's DME files, then email that to AA, then re-flash the file after AA modifies it and returns it to them. you can also use the simon to flash the tune if you have extra money to burn, but the 325i/330i use a different computer than the 328i, so you have to make sure you get the right software for your specific model. |

my shop didn't charge me anything extra for the two trips.. but if your shop isn't competent, the extra money for the simon tool may be justified.
but honestly, all they are going to do, is plug your car in, and download the software from the OBD2 port, then send it to AA. then plug your car in again the next day (or later the same day) and re-flash the software with a laptop. If they've ever flashed software before, this should be a no-brainer for them. |
