Is there way to convert this CIC to CCC (professional) or to VW RNS510 map? There is no db, dbal, cdrom.toc and files.cfg files in this CIC. These files are required to convert to RNS510 map.

The file is in a .tar format but it'll unzip the same as usual using 7-zip or a similar program.

Can I burn this to a DVD and insert into my E90 2008 335i

Do the DVD maps usually require an activation or FSC code?

If not that is not likely to work but I do now know for sure.

In the past I have just inserted a new DVD and it works straight away.

The downloads require an activation code which is encoded to the system so that it can decrypt the map file contents.

Given that the DVDs for non HDD based systems do not require a code, BMW may have used the DVD itself as a copy protection system.

So I suspect this will not work but maybe someone who has tried can chime in.

I do know that people with a HDD based CIC have been able to update the maps on their systems using the DVDs. They do this in lieu of the glove box USB installation, but they still must provide an FSC or lifetime code.

If your CIC requires that the DVD remain in for navigation to work then you do not have one of these latter systems.

Which do you have?

I re checked and I have a CCC system.

Does anyone know if they have been updated from 2014?

No sorry they unfortunately stopped producing map updates for the CCC iDrive as it was getting too old to support.

This may sound like a silly question, but is there an install guide of some sort anyone knows of that they could link me? I have been searching through the site and all I get is flooded with flash map tune stuff.

Edit: found this if anyone else wanted an easy link:
https://www.e90post.com/forums/showt...t=premium+maps

Would love to upgrade my maps because I think I'm still on 2011 maps.

What year was your car built?
If 2007 as per your profile, then you'd have CCC based navigation which uses a DVD (instead of hard drive).
To confirm, EJECT any DVD from your CD/DVD drive and see if it has navigation maps on it.

Hey bcoz,

Yeah 2007, the only reason I know I have the 2011 maps is because I have the DVD for it.
By having CCC based navigation, do you have to upgrade the maps in a different way? Is it easier or harder to do?

That vehicle has CCC.
CIC was first introduced in September 2008.

CCC DVD Only system last update was 2014. Two types of system can be easily identified as below. Plenty of free 2014 DVD maps available as they are worthless.

DVD Road Map Australia Business 2014 - 65902350327
DVD Road Map Oceania Professional 2014 - 65902350561

606 - Business (single drive)
609 - Professional (double drive)

For CCC, it's as easy as replacing a DVD. That's it (there's no user accessible hard drive).

Unfortunately, as pointed out on previous page (post 118), last update to CCC maps for AUS was in 2014

After doing some quick research I would say an NBT kit looks to be around the $1.5k mark?

Yep, I think mine was $2.2K
Not sure it was worth the $ but it does have the option to display HP and Torque dials

I saw your build thread on this after you mentioned it. I think you said you got the whole package which was about $2.7k? Plus BMW Yoda helping haha.

It would be nice, but I'm not sure that kind of money is worth it. I might be able to go down Nates path and go Android or something.

So I extract the 2020 file and there's one folder and it's too big to fit on a single fat32 volume exceeds 4GB. When I look in the folder there's no logical way to divide the folders accross multiple flash drives. What did you guys do ?

So I have my answer. The files are over the theoretical limit of FAT 32 ( I must be mistaken)
Inserted the drive. Input my FSC code. Upload took no more than 15 mins all up.

For those with patched CICs. Use @jaeg rs tool (search you'll find it)
DOnt use the vin method, use the from file method. You need to use the 1b FSC file you generated as you signed your FSCs as part of the patching process. Hope that helps the next bloke!
