Yes, but it was my grandmother's Maltese, which is very well trained and quite small. There was this one time that I went for a drive with just me and the pup, and she kept on clambering over towards my seat (she's very attention-needy) and plonked down right in between my legs, which became quite the nuisance, as I drive a 6-spd manual. Now I only drive her around if there's another passenger there to occupy her attention.
But I wouldn't let a typical dog inside the car. |

I have had to put our 125 lb Dogue de Bordeaux (it's the dog from the Turner and Hooch movie) in my car twice. I put down an old bed sheet and was nervous the whole time.

helll no! My parents have a car specifically for both our labs and i see how messy it gets. Whenever they tell me to clean it, it takes forever to get all of the hair out. I would say definitely not to let the dog in the car unless you want it to be dirty FOREVER.

Unintentionally. Picked up my car last saturday, walked outside with my oafish lab yesterday, opened the door to my 335, and before I could do a thing she was in the drivers seat. Friggin labs!

Two dogs in my car all the time, a 100 lb german shepherd wolf mix and a 70 lb dalmation.
Last trip was over 2200 mile round trip from vegas to wyoming and back. They are a little big but the point of my car is to get my and my shit where I want to go. So that is what I do with it. They have been camping several times and to lake mead a few times, and go to the dog park and back twice a week. I just get it detailed afterward... No big deal. One picture is him as a puppy with my fiance, and the other is him almost fully grown. His name is Calma Chroi (Stong Heart) in Gaelic Irish. No pic on my computer of the Dalmation. P.S. Sorry for the huge picture on the second one.

i have 2 pits. one thats 70 lbs the other is 55 lbs. They both ride in my car all the time. No boots, No harness, no sheets. Sometimes with muddy feet. Sometimes they drool. Who cares. Its just a car. If i had M5 it would be the same. I love my dogs. i like my car. I'd pick my dogs over my car any day of the week. My car doesnt wag its tail and its not happy to see me. My dogs are. DOGS FTW!

I had the no dog approach in my car but that was short lived, especially that we own an X-5 as well..

My 70 lb lab mix is in my E90 twice a week for the trips back and forth to daycare. I have a cover that protects the entire back seat. For in town trips I just let him loose back there but have a harness for longer trips. No real problems with hair or smell as long as the car is cleaned every now and then, which it is anyway.
The problem dog is my wife's Shih Tzu. You think since he's 15 lbs and doesn't shed it should be no big deal compared to the other. But that little ****** wants to climb all over the car, pull himself up to the windows, jump back and forth between the front and back seats, etc. He drives me nuts and doesn't get in the car unless he is harnessed.

I never thought I'd do it, but I put my soggy wet black lab in the back seat of my beloved bimmer with nothing but a dirty towel separating her from the leather.

But i do agree, its JUST a car...it really is, just a car my dog isnt allowed in Lol! I might get the balls one day to start letting her ride freely, but as it stands now...shes all over the place in a car, she cant sit still. kennel travel only. but good for anyone who doesnt care. it all breaks down to preference thats all... great thread. |

Dogs in the car...i know people who dont't even like putting their little kids in the BMW.
Personally for me I let the dog run free in the car. The kids in the car seats. Yes i have paw prints on the windows and leather seats. Drink spills on the carpets. Big deal...clean it afterwards. Seat cleaning - $25 and 20 mins Window cleaning - $10 and 15 mins Carpet cleaning - $15 and 25 mins Spending time with the dogs and kids in the park - Priceless Enjoy the BMW...even if it means getting it out of the garage. |

I don't think banning a dog from your $40,000 car amounts to animal cruelty.
Just depends on how nice you like to keep your car. I know people who won't allow a dog in their Civic, then on the other hand, I know people who will carry a dog in their Maserati. |

I let dogs in my car, but never allow them to drive.
