weisslicht led angel eye died?
just put weisslicht led angel eyes in my 2006 e90 no idrive, i also have the weisslicht led plate lights. had no problems the first few months, now the driver side is dead, was working intermittantly for a week and now it doesnt come on and i get the bulb out code. Has anyone had there weisslichts fail? all the wires are connected fine, connection is good....
i tried to email weisslicht but they have no contact info on there site? what should i do? can i order just a single side? do the led's die? on a side note how do i stop the led's from flickering when they are off (usually shortly after startup) and no the left side no longer flickers |

I got my bulbs through bimmian and had both sides warrantied. My passenger side went out and the replacement was a different shade of white. So now I'm sending the driver's side back.
In my case, the connection became loose. Mine also flickered and would intermittently light....then went out completely. The strobing effect on start up is the bulb check system. All LEDs do this at start up. You can have the bulb check system coded out. |

I haven't sent it back yet...We can see if it matches.
Mine were a tint of blue. The new ones are completely white. |

The flickering problem with LED AE's appaears to only be a problem with the earlier year cars such as 06 & 07.
I had the Weisslicht AE's in my 09' E92 and there was absolutley no flickering. After trying several other type AE bulbs (MTec 4350 Cosmos Blue, GP ThunderII 8500) - I currently have the LUX H8 v3, and they don't flicker either. I can tell you that my DS Weisslicht AE went out soon after install Got it replaced under warranty (after much hassle) and then promptly sold the entire set. I was definitely not impressed by the Weisslicht brightness or the uneven distribution despite the 'special design' that is supposed to alleviate most of the uneveness. I bought the Weisslicht due to all the hype, and the fact that they were cheap compared to LUX - shoulda known better & just paid the $$ up front for the LUX & be done with it. The LUX are MUCH better at evening up the brightness between the inner/outer lite rings

I only got flickering when they failed. And because of the bulb check system at start up. All my leds strobe with it.
The wiesslicht leds are actually rebranded 6W units....you can find them for $60. I paid $150 for them though. I don't think the materials used were suitable for the application. All 3 of the units I have had in my car have warped the chrome material on the top of the bulb. And both of my original bulbs had loose connections and the warped chrome top. Left side shows my original driver's side bulb with the warped chrome top and the right is of a replacement. The smaller area comes off but is held in by wires.
