What else should be next for my FBO N55?
Hey guys.
I have a 2013 FBO N55 6mt e92. Mods list/things to done to car is as follows: JB4 G5 ISO with latest firmware FF Wires ETS 7" Intercooler N54tuningline N55 downpipe AFE Pro Dry S Stage 2 intake VRSF chargepipe Rogue Engineering Tranny mounts Boost Addictions diff brace BMW oil catch can BMW Clutch stop 3.8" Cyba brushed aluminum tips BMS CDV delete e92 m3 ZCP carbon fiber lip Debadged I'm starting to get bored of the car, but I have no desire to put a big turbo on it or lower it with some crazy suspension as this is my daily and I drive a decent distance to work. I also work in an office, so I don't want a lowered, stiff, crazy loud car with a heavy clutch as I'm half asleep when i'm driving home from work. The way it is with my mods, I'm very happy. I also would like to keep it semi-reliable (lol). What else can be done to make the car better? Sway bars? |

With the mods you have listed, I guarantee your clutch will start to slip at some point. |

I would do M3 control arms with a nice mid-tier suspension setup (something adjustable to meet your comfort level). From there, a SSK would be a nice touch with the rest of your mods. The SSK I installed in my car is one of my favorite mods to date, and really makes for a nice shifting experience when combined with the CDV delete, 550i clutch (more feedback), and a weighted ZHP knob.

MHD flash tune or MHD BEF with JB4. MHD Stage 2+ is awesome and sooo much smother than the JB4 IMO. I did the Eibach 1" Lowering springs with KONI Shocks, big improvement over stock and handling is much better. Also I upgraded the lower control arms (tension struts) with the solid core M3 control arms, tighter feel and more responsive.

Honestly, I would revisit upgrading the turbo. I took a dive on the PS2 and really enjoy the car. Still as reliable as before with a much better powerband. I love it! Would be a blast with the 6MT as well.

I'm a 2013, so i need to get my DME unlocked, which seems costly and hard to find (labor-wise).

Be warned that with a 2013 N55 you (highly likely) have the 'newer' HPFP, which may be more reliable but won't flow as well as the earlier style. Hence your are boost-limited before you run out of fuel pressure, so you can't go too aggressive on the maps.

www.youtu.be/2nVP1q1i6FY '11 335i xDrive. Almost FBO, PS2, etc. (Stock exhaust, no fuel upgrades) with Extremely conservative Wedge Performance 93 pump gas tune 15psi boost target: 346 wheel Hp & 346 ft/lbs wheel torque. Conservative Wedge 93 pump gas tune 17 psi boost target: 375 WHp and 375 ft/lbs wheel torque. After I swap my engine with a much newer N55 with a ProMeth/Wedge Performance Isopropanol Stage 3 Manifold Injection Kit combined with an aggressive tune. I believe I could break 500 WHp along with my transfer case/differential. Mike |
