Do you take it easy on your car when it's over 90F outside?

90F aint shit to a car. The 20 degrees between 70 and 90 makes a big difference for a person but not a car. Don't even sweat it. If you ever end up in limpmode just cruising on the freeway you got bigger problems than the weather.

It's designed to run in any temp. Consider this. Coolant temps are around 200-240F. So if 200 degree water can cool an engine, 90 degree air is certainly not going to do much harm. In an ideal situation, yes 50-60 degree is better since if the engine does get hot, it can cool itself easier. But these cars are equipped with many safety features to prevent overheating even to the extent of killing the engine to prevent further heat from building.
With that said, I tend to go easier on the car when it's hot since the AC is usually on and I'm old fashioned and believe to this day that AC works an engine extra hard. But I'm in jersey and we only see a few hot hot months a year so the rest of the year is when I have my real fun. All in all, drive it however you want when the urge hits you. If you just watch your temps then you're fine. The gauges won't lie to you lol. |

try the WP sport option on MHD flash- should get you close to 210-220 normally. At least 15 degrees lower.

I don't know why you people keep responding to this guy's threads. They're always about the stupidest shit not even worth discussing.

The oil weight stated in the owner's manual is for BMW's own 5w-30 oil which meets BMW's LL-01 standards. Meanwhile other 5w-30 oils that are sold in auto parts stores or other retailers do not carry oil that meets BMW's LL-01. The only oil available in stores that is BMW approved is Castrol's 0w-40 oil. Which is another reason why some owners use 0w-40 such as myself. lol

I have zero consideration for what the weather is like outside when it comes to determining my driving style. It's all mood driven.
