The new G20
I’m not a fan of the rear lights. To Lexus like. Grills are to big, and I’m not a fan of the door handle design. It’s has that oblong design. However, I do like it better than the F30. I wish BMW stop forcing you to get packages that cost in the thousands, just to get a single option you want. The M340i when it’s all said and done, is going to run in the $60,000 plus range. The 330i in the $45,000- $50,000 range for a 4 cylinder. Really.

I haven’t seen it in person yet but I do want to test drive one before I give an opinion. Steering/feel is supposed to be like the e90 as from reviews so we’ll see. M sport would be the only option I would go for and I wish a conventional manual gearbox was available. While the 330’s torque has increased, the M340i has stepped into e39 M5 territory in power terms so that should be a blast to drive.

I can't wait, I got to see/sit in it a few weeks back in AZ and it was gorgeous. I love the nod to the E46's headlight design. I was on the M2 Competition's waiting list but dropped off once the G20 initial impressions came in. Now, I'll be on the list for the next M3/G80. Last M3 with a stick!

Have you driven it?
Practically every auto manufacturer sells features in packages. The E90 was no different. Having driven most of BMW’s new lineup (with exception of G20 and X5 50i) I have high hopes for this car. They are capable of making great-driving vehicles; they’ve just been pandering to the masses with many of their outgoing models, so it’s nice to finally see (what looks like) a return to form.

Went to my local dealership today, and saw the G20. In my opinion, the car is bloated, the front end is ugly, HUGE grills, looks like buck teeth, rear is ugly, side profile is so,so, and to me, lost that BMW look. I think the Audi 4, and Mercedes C class look much nicer. In fact, I think the F Series looks nicer? I was really looking forward to this generation. However, I’m not impressed. I didn’t get a chance to test drive it. However, after seeing the G20, I had no interest. Sorry BMW, but I think you have lost your way.

You should read the many comments of e90 looking bloated compared to the E46.

I think the front end is for pedestrian safety but I agree f30 looks better but doesn't drive like a Bmw. They need to remove the front chrome

It doesn’t. M2 is proper, small, fun M-car.

If you’re referring to the g20, it’s as simple as ticking off an option for high-gloss black grilled and shadowline trim from factory. Problem solved! No more chrome.

I actually like it but any BMW I would potentially buy or lease going forward I would always wait until the face-lifted LCI versions come out before I drop any coin down.
I have a biting feeling that for a start the door handles, tail lights and front grill will be erased and replaced with a more appropriate design on the LCI G20. As for now I wholly prefer the G20 than the F30! Quote:

I drove g20 330xdrive for couple of days. Loaner for the g30 540xdrive. Is slightly bigger than f30 330i however it looks smaller. Actually, to me at least, look as same size as e90 until I parked it next to the e90 335i. The engine, compared to the f30 330i, pull stronger and the noise might be fake, I'm not sure, but sounds good. The interior is also better, appears more rich and sophisticated and leatherette is softer and smoother compared to f30. Steering feel? Hmmm...Maybe little tighter than f30 but definitely not as good as e90. We also had f10 528xdrive that was tuned so I know what these 4cyl can do. The e90 335i n54 6MT RWD is FBO and will destroy them. From these cars only the g30 540xdrive with b58 comes close to the FBO n54. With that said the g20 340i would be impressing when you WOT but due to the Lexus rear end lack of MT I would be a definitely shopping for another car.

To illustrate, on a 335i, a $1400 sport package gave sport seats, staggered tires, springs/shocks, and an external oil cooler on the manual. That's a lot of bang for buck everyone said. Today, to get one feature, usually adds multiples of thousands. It does seem like the G is bring back what the 3 used to be. Too bad there's no stick. I wonder if they still used stamped steel control arms? |

Still looks ugly, I see so much Kia in the from grills when they are connected especially in this picture. This should have bean the 5 series in my opinion.

I sat in it this past week at my dealer and overall did like it. Mid May I’ll be attending the BMW UDE and will autocross in a G20 so I’m looking forward to it.

I like it actually, reminds me of the c class which I really like in white!
The new gauges are horrendous for me mentally, I love the old school Beemer ones and I thought they were perfect with the small updates in recent years, this new design would be nice on the 8 series but not on a sporty bmw, These kinds of cars will be non existent after warranty with all the gadgets?? |
