Question Steam cleaning car interior DIY - E90

Hello Members,

Car info: Type PG77 | Model 323i U1 | Development Code E90 (MUE) | year 2011 SEDAN

Can I steam clean my car with this steam cleaner?
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B003PGQI3Y/

If no, please tell me why i can not use any steam cleaner to clean interiors.

The person who sold me vehicle smoked tons of weed and cigarettes in it and it smells gross inside and hard to breathe unless windows are open .
I tried to clean windshield with paper towel and when I wiped windshield from inside, it went yellow! because of nicotine deposit.

Please advise.

Thank you

Consider looking into an ozone treatment for the interior, it can be really effective at removing smoke odors from foam and fabrics etc.

This should be done after you have cleaned off all the hard surfaces as much as possible.

If you DIY please do it safely, ozone is reactive and an irritant to the body, so don’t run the generator too long and let it air out before going inside the car.

Source: I am a mechanical engineer that works with ozone frequently.

I second the ozone treatment as the only truly effective way to get rid of smoke pollution in a car.

This steamer, however, is great tool to deep clean any other grime and dirt out of a vehicle. I have a similar one and have successfully used it on several cars.

There are a lot of very good YouTube videos out there that go over the best and safest ways to use a steamer for car detailing. I personally really like the AMMO NYC videos. Very detailed and professional.

+2 for ozone. The steam cleaner will work well too. Remove your seats and go to town on the carpet.

Thank you very much Welcome to NBA Jam BMWinATL djh2 for replying,
I was confused whether to buy this 250USD steam cleaner or not, I watched many youtube videos about it and I am still watching to get an idea about how to use it clean interior.

Furthermore, I have got cabin air filter changed completely. I will see who can do ozone treatment near me. Meanwhile, I can start with Steam cleaning.

Thanks again for providing feedback for steam cleaner and Ozone treatment idea.

the best? remove them and wash them outside the car.

what really happens? bucket of simple green water, scrub brush and the shop vac in the car. Just test whatever detergent you plan to use on a spot under the seat first.
and make sure anything your using for rags is color fast.
