2005 E90 N52 330i Oil level Stuck

My 330i has used oil every now & then since I've had it. Since I replaced the VGC and oil cooler gasket the usage has slowed down which seems reasonable. . . except that the dash oil level has been stuck on half way for too long.

I used INPA to check for fault codes (none) and to see if the level sensor was still reading (it is).

In INPA the percentage level seems to be stuck at 53% when the engine is running, when I turn the engine off it reads 122% as the oil drains down.

I put 0.5L in and the level rose a couple of mm. When I backed down my steep drive the level rose a lot.

I know the oil level readout updates every 20 minutes, I've done two, twenty mile journeys but the oil level hasn't updated.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why my dash isn't updating? It's pretty annoying considering the oil level sensor is clearly reading well and I'm not keen on replacing the sensor when it seems like the computer percentage calculation seems to be the problem.

I wish these cars had dipsticks FFS!!!
