Anyone know a vin decoder that is working now?

M Decoder stopped working for me and I can’t find another which gives the option breakdowns. This is new there used to be a bunch of them.

Yeah i coudn`t find one for free when looking to buy my car. This was only a month ago and i consider myself a pretty decent/dedicated googler. If there was a free one i would have found it

MDecoder has a link to the business site which is the one I paid for.

Looks like some of these are defunct or only work if you put in the full vin. Good luck!

I was just at my dealer a few days ago with a vin. I told my SA that I was interested in purchasing the car privately and asked if he could run the vin for options and recalls. Five minutes later I had the works, including service history, and all at no charge. I'm sure I wouldn't be able to do that every week but it worked out once. What's the worst that could happen... they say no.

All about the $Money$ apparently. BMW may have started threatening either the Decoder Sites, OR the Advertisers on those sites.

Several months ago, when M-Decoder started asking for money, there was a FREE site that worked, without any Registration or login:
https://bimmerdecoder.com/

When I go to that site NOW, I'm re-directed to:
https://bimmertool.com/Account/Login

For a time during the last several months, that site appeared to be related to the "Bimmer Scene" Forum:
https://www.bimmerscene.com/index.php

Since I basically had to "Waive ALL claims" against my Security Provider to access the Bimmertool.com page when I tried to access it via "bimmerdecoder.com" link, I decided NOT to experiment.

If anyone wants to try the bimmertool.com site (probably safe, just that MS didn't get the info on site ownership/name change), please check it out by registering and seeing if Bimmertool provides a free Decoder to "Registered Members" or if there is a fee.

Bimmertool will work for 1 search per day for free. You must register. When you log back in, you can see all the vins you have previously searched.

I used bimmer.work the other day to get the options for my car. Need all the characters from vin, not just the last 7.

This one is the only one that ever worked for me. I don't remember if it required the full VIN or not.
