CIC Retrofit Q: Can I update from the iDrive menu?

I have internet/bmw live which works from my iPhone tethering, I'm curious if I can simply update the iDrive software from the menu screen option? I've been a little wary of doing that seeing as it's a retrofit.

Pretty sure that update directs you to insert a USB stick and its for the combox not the CIC..Which menu options are you going through ?
To my knowledge their would need to be a server at BMW that it would need to contact and download from - don't know if that exists

Yep that?s for combox and can be updated via USB
