hey all,
just asking for ideas for my baby sis. my sis is in a dilemma now, she doesn't know why uni/college to go to. she is accepted in BU (Boston Uni) and NTU (nt'l TWN Uni). background check. all of us (me, elder bro and baby sis) were born and raised in South Africa but have a good background of TWN culture. my family is very taiwanese, hell we don't only know how to read, speak and write mandarin/chinese, we can even speak taiwanese. so now my bro and i have thought that since we are so taiwanese, my sis should come to the US for college so she could have a better and different experience. but that's not the way what my parents think. she is really stuck and she can't make up her choice now. both me and my bro studied in dallas, and i'm still here so atleast when she goes to BU she can come visit me frequently, not like she'll be the only member of the family over here. and inputs?

Depends on which culture you'd like to immerse yourself. Theres a good chance that, whatever country you choose for your sister, she will stay at after college. Unless she completely rejects the lifestyle in tw which isn't all that bad. Or perhaps its a matter of wanting to earn USD or TWD after college
One last thing to consider is that you can always do foreign exchange classes. So if you are leaning toward US-based college, there is a chance of enrolling in 6-12 months foreign exchange classes at the very college she got accepted into. Heck, if you want to be even more creative, sign her up for a session of the Loveboat tour |

Sometimes a golden parachute works, other times it doesn't. When it comes to expat families, alot of them enroll kids in boarding school... $30-45k USD a year, and they look at the kids 24/7. Maybe you can look for a system that has curfews and such. I know of religious colleges around here that have such rules, not sure about Taiwan tho. |
