Incoming new car.... (x2).....You are not going to believe this.....
Finally got myself a new jalopy...... I was intending to keep schtum for a week or so, but a recent post by an E90 regular has prompted me to break cover a little earlier than scheduled. I wouldn’t want to be declared an imitator. It is (was) total coincidence; in fact I put my deposit down at the beginning of last week! After several false starts, including a cancelled Z4 order, lots of pouring over Pistonheads classifieds, Autotrader, eBay etc ,indecision followed by indecision, interspersed with a few test drives, and then EUREKA I finally decided what I wanted......... I pick it up on Friday week (3rd Dec)..... It’s a “sensible” four wheel drive, perfect for the oncoming winter months. There are a few ‘unsensible’ things about it; PSE for one and the 355bhp flat six another. I started off looking for a 996 C4S Cab, but ended up with a 997. I drove a couple of C2S Cabs, came close to buying a silver C2S but decided I wanted a dark colour. This one ticked the vast majority of boxes; 2006 Carrera 4S Cab in Basalt Black with black leather, it had a factory hardtop (rare for a 997 cab), C4S Cab, manual box, PSE, PCM2.1, Sports Seats, rear park assist, 19” Sport Designs, heated seats, embossed headrests, rain sensor/auto wipers, multi function wheel and top tint. The only addition I would have liked was Sports Chrono. I went down the OPC route, more expensive but worth it for the peace of mind and the two year OPC warranty. This car had over £4200 in prep, major service, discs/pads all round, RMS changed and new clutch. It’s a 56 plate, 29000 mile car. It may not be 997 Gen 2 Turbo territory but I am looking forward to my first foray into Pork ownership. Like Palmnuts, it has taken a bit of time for the 911 shape to grow on me, but it has. Here she is, a few pictures taken in the showroom and a few from the Pork OPC ad. To say I am looking forward to collecting it would be an understatement. |

Congrats!!!
Looks very nice and the 'posh' seats also. Yep, these stick to the road like the proverbial to a blanket so many fun miles ahead. I'm really pleased you have finally got your 911 Peter. Happy xmas! |

Paul, he hasn't bought a TT and how many hairdressers could afford a C4S. Apart from Mark Hill but I can't remember what car he drives now...........had a Merc some time ago.

Ha, good point, I was looking at 911's around the 25k-30k mark just last night, but I'd now look like an obvious copycat....

Hairdresser???? I am a middle aged, greying man don't you know! I will be getting enough grief from my 18 year old daughter so don't need it from here as well! (although she has asked if she can drive it to school!) |

If being a hairdresser means driving a C4S cab or an SLK55 AMG, where can I train up?
