I think he's full of sh*t, the tech, not HyperM3. Do you realize how many people have done the golf tee mod in one form or another and have had it that way for quite a while. Just because it's not registering any codes, the way that unplugging the electrical connection does, the golf tee mod is doing the exact same thing and we have not heard of numerous damage to the emissions equipment with the golf tee mod

I was about to say the same. How many people out there are running exhaust systems that dont even use that vacuum line anymore, and arent getting problems? 02 sensor failures are just a freak occurance...it happens sometimes to random cars..you replace it and off you go.

I think Im going to plug the line now and see what she does.

I just did mine... Sounds different already, and I just let it idle... I'll drive around when the weather is better... No lights on the dash

Edit: Also felt the exhaust coming out of both pipes ... The idle growl sounds neat

Has anyone done it this way with an E93? I was trying it in my car and noticed that the trunk of course is different and I've undone two screws and have yet to find the part to disconnect (coming from the driver's side of the trunk like the pics here on the E92.)

I unplugged it to see if it sounded different, and it does. My question is...If I plug it back in, is there a way to delete the code that it logged?

Only at the dealer. Its not a code that a C-reader can delete.

I tried this out about a week ago and i noticed a difference immediately. Great find. It took me only seconds to do. Idle sounds awesome. Smoke comes out of both exhausts now when I turn on the car.

i wonder what effect this has on the cars startup procedure?

when i start my car (when the engine is cold), the exhaust only comes out of on of the two exhaust pipes until the RPMs drop in about 40-60 seconds. then the sound changes, and the valve opens and out comes exhaust from both pipes.

In order to avoid the codes, can't we just do the golf tee mod at this end of the hose - is it easier to get to in the trunk?

Unplugged..sounds great! I'll know best after a week of evaluation to see about performace. Screw the codes..you can always plug it in "loosely" before a dealer visit and pretend it "must just have been loose" from the factory or all those potholes.

We had this valve on VW R32s and a lot of guys used medical supply clamps on the vacuum tubing, you can turn the mod on and off by pressing the clamp. A lot of medical supply places give free samples online:

sounds great on start up... easy to unplug and re-plug if you don't like the results.

Wah-wah-wee-wah! This was easy as hell to do! I recommend that anyone with a 335i to try this out for sure! A bit of droning at 60+, but that can be fixed with a simple replugging.

i just put a metal BB in the line and plugged the hose back where it was, it took me less time than it would take many to get to where the actuator is. essentially the two mods are the same thing so I have no idea where the OP got his thread title from.
