I used the Bentley manual, which was an ok reference, but I had to figure quite a bit of stuff out myself.

Actually, I'm getting ready to write up a DIY M20 repowering thread with more detail than the manual. It'll be light on pics unfortunately, but with a lot of tips on parts/tools to buy and a checklist of things to do for uninstallation/reinstallation.

If you've done the timing belt/water pump DIY, you already have most of the skills. Mine was done as a (mostly) 1-man swap. It's doable, but would have gone more than twice as fast with a friend helping out.

As of today I can send you an installation checklist (2 page outline word doc). I'll volunteer some time if you decide to DIY.

cool man thanks i'll just wait b/c first of all i'm not 100 percent i'm goign to do a swap. secondly, i wouldnt be the one doing it. i'd be more like the guy who helps. I'm passively looking to see how much the m20 motors go for nowadays. If i do decide to do it, i'll hit you up. are you on baye30?
