Boost leak test. Cant test above 5psi.

Hey guys im getting 2 leaks on the intake side of the turbo while trying to check for boost leaks, one right at the turbo inlet and another at the inlet-intake connection before that.
If i try to put more then 5 PSI it leaks and i'm wondering do i need to buy a new rubber grommet and a new inlet pipe? or is this pretty common?
I read that some ppl have it seal good enough where the pipe pops off the turbo past 5psi but mine leaks like crazy. The grommet and turbo inlet look in good shape to me.

If that pretty common how can i test past 5psi? Thanks

Where are you attaching the pressure tester? Everything going into the turbo only sees vacuum, not boost. Boost leaks happen between turbo and throttle body.

I'm attaching it up top after the air filter maf pipe. I know how vacuum/boost works. I'm saying on an n55 when you try to check for leaks it can leak out all the air pressure on the intake connections pre turbo which ruins the test. I'm asking if its common for those connections to leak or if they should hold up to 15 or so psi so the boost side can be properly checked.

I could buy the tester that goes right on the inlet pipe from turboboostleaktesters.com but I know it's leaking right at the turbo inlet pretty bad.

I was able to test to 20psi before I stopped adding more with no issues. Do you have the VRSF inlet?

Nope just the stock one. Its definitely not sealing properly then. Where did you hook up the tester?

The top of the turbo inlet. I have the Pure inlet though.

So I got the turboboostleaktester for the n55 and hooked it up at the top of the turbo inlet. It is definitely leaking from the turbo inlet connection so much that I cant pressurized the system above 3 psi. I cleaned the rubber gasket and it looks fine.

Has anyone tested an n55 with the stock inlet without any leaks?

I'd say try a new inlet pipe-to-turbo gasket. I pressure test using the stock inlet pipe and it does leak a little there, but I was able to pressurize my system to at least 10 psi with no issues.

Ok good to know thanks. Ya I was thinking about getting a new one. Maybe my gasket has shrunk or wore down. When I reinstall the pipe it seems to go into the turbo pretty easy.

I did notice theres a bolt down there on the turbo. Your inlet pipe doesn't bolt on by the turbo does it? Theres nothing holding mine but the top bolt.

This happened to me to then I noticed there was no bolt holding the turbo inlet pipe lip to the turbo. Must've fallen out over time. After I found a suitable washer and nut to use, I was able to pressurize the system properly without it leaking there.
