Bilstein B12
Hello all, hope all are well!!
After noticing an oil patch on my drive under the bonnet area, I jacked my E92 330i up; noticed that my drivers side shock is leaking, 54k miles on the clock. So it's time to upgrade! I have done some research and as much as I like the idea coilovers, I don't think that I can justify spending mega money. So I'm thinking the Bilstein B12 kit, with the pro springs. I think I'd replace the control arms with the E92 M3 ones for a complete package. (Hopefully eradicate some of the understeer!) My confusion is, I can buy the kit from Demon Tweeks for £728... OR I can buy it from German eBay through a company called "Tuning Expert". They are a powerseller with over 4000 sales (99.8% feedback) for EUR 645,27 (£470). (http://www.ebay.de/itm/Eibach-Bilste...d=bvizzzzzzOkz) Is this a wise move? It says VAT included, but I don't want to get stung with import duty/tax. Or will the tax have been paid due to it being an EU country? If anyone can recommend the best place to order these from, or any other useful info that would be a great help. Cheers, Jack |

Yeah. I have seen the 14s for E800. The weak Euro is making these seem like a real steel.

Wow. I'm in Germany in next month for holiday, might have to pickup a B14 set for 2/3 of the cost over here!

I was trying to get hold of an H&R touring cupkit from Germany recently, it proved problematic for the 335d.
I'm tempted by the B14 but ideally I was trying to avoid coilovers. |

Well! I've ordered B14's from http://www.mk-fahrwerkstechnik.de/
A bit of a faff with the payment method, (bank transfer saves 2%, whereas Paypal add on a few quid). So went bank transfer, translated the all German order/invoice email and sent the money direct. Should be here in 3-5 days! Great price, can't wait!! Brilliant advice/help, cheeeers! |

Don't worry, these only got 1 setting so you don't need to mess it around!

Pro-kit springs will give you a ride height thats more or less the same as factory MSport cars. Slightly lower at the front (MSport sits a bit uneven, with the front 10mm or so higher than the rear, the Pro-kit sorts that and brings the front down to match)
So with a SE car you'll probably get the ~30mm, whereas with a MSport car its more like 0-10mm. |

Am I getting that right? It's not a 30mm minimum drop over M sport is it? |

Got my B14's fitted now! What a difference they make! They have completely transformed the handling and road holding of my E92.
They drop is brilliant, I have no rear arch gap and soon to be no front arch gap! Once all dropped and aligned (and I've washed my car) I'll try and get some pictures up to show the before and after. Got to say that the ride isn't anywhere near as bumpy or crashy as I thought, don't get me wrong the ride is a lot firmer but nothing ridiculous. A note on fitting, my brother who is a qualified mechanic of 6 years fitted these on the drive in roughly 3 - 4 hours. He has fitted plenty in his time, and his comments were that the rears were slightly more tricky but nothing major; and that if we was in a garage it would shave an hour off fitting. He also showed me the original DSF and DSR shocks which had both failed and was leaking everywhere (Bloody stunk!)! He could compress the shocks all the way down by hand and there was no rebound at all... |
