Rear Caliper Sticking - "GO" Label, is this a factory part?
Does anyone know if this rear caliper with a "GO" label is a factory part (2011)?
I had the caliper on the other side replaced about 1000 miles ago along with new pads/rotors and a brake fluid flush because the car was intermittently shaking on the highway and the wheel had a ton of brake dust and was very hot. Just got off a long highway trip and noticed an intermittent vibration come back during the journey. Pulled over, saw excessive brake dust on the other wheel side now. The caliper is reading 250-300F using an infrared temp probe, where as all other wheels are 70F. Haven't seen this "GO" label on my other E90, so wanted to understand if it was a crappy part the previous owner used or if it's just bad luck that both calipers have decided to go out on me (Unfortunately I've been re-repairing work the previous owner did on a quite a few things ). I'm hoping I don't have to replace the pads/rotors again since they were just changed! Thanks for any info |

Thank you, neither have I or even when looking through used parts on eBay.
Only reference I could find was in the post below, a few seemed to have noticed it on their 2011s when they were new. I wonder if it was some odd thing they did at the factory in 2011. The marking was very uniform on both sides so didn't look handwritten. Will be able to tell if part if genuine once it's changed out. https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=508484 |

Best way to tell will be when the wheel is off and you can examine the caliper. Might be innocuous, who knows… |

Just to chime in, my 2011 E91 also has "GO" on the rear brake calipers. I'm not aware of they were ever changed before but I confirmed with a friend that their LCI E91 also had "GO".. would appreciate others input on if these are OEM calipers.

It's interesting though, just saw Cal122's link to another thread https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=508484 and that post was made in 2011, and post # 1 and 5 seem to confirm that their 2011 rear calipers do say "GO" on them, I can't imagine anyone having to replace their 2011 rear calipers w/ aftermarket in the same year of purchase..

Thanks everyone for the responses. Did some additional digging on eBay and looks like some of the rear calipers that came off 2011 donor cars might either have "GO" or "ET" marked on them. Strange, wonder if something to do with end of production run for the E90 in 2011.
"ET" marking" https://www.ebay.com/itm/13487432920...mis&media=COPY "GO marking" https://www.ebay.com/itm/23508110074...mis&media=COPY In any case, the second rear caliper on my car is GO-ing into the trash and being replaced with new after locking up. |

It would be interesting to see what else is on the calipers, such as casting marks. My old 2011 had ATE calipers and every other BMW I've owned. The ATE name and part number was cast into the caliper body. ATE have always been the brand that BMW use for calipers.
