Right as this ship was pulling in there was a ship under the bridge. It was really dark, but looked like an auto carrier. It only took it 5 minutes to go through the whole bridge picture.

Thanks, I'll try the printscreen.

False alarm. A ship that I thought might have been the Hual turned out to be a Wallenius Wilhelmsen carrier instead. So still no sign of our ship. It was right behind that other carrier at Gatun locks and now, sssft, it just vanished.

Maybe it was hijacked. I'm picturing hundreds of brand new beemer's zipping around the streets of Panama.

Gotta go now. See if you guys can catch it at Miraflores.

NO... WAIT!...... I think I see something that...
looks...
like...
IT!

I think you're right. I'm pretty sure this was the Hual going under the bridge. It has the same light signature as the photos above.

Hey, do ya think I'm getting a little too obsessed here? I just think this is amazing to be able to do this.

OK, time for a quick calculation...

Panama City to Long Beach - 2997 miles as the crow flies ~ 3400 miles following the shipping lanes.

3400 mi @ 20 mph (Hual's max crusing speed is 23 mph) = 170 hrs = 7 days to reach long beach. So...

Wed, Dec 13 ~ 8:00 pm - arrive Long Beach
Thu, Dec 14 am - Load/Unload
Thu, Dec 14 pm - Depart
Thu, Dec 14 pm or Fri Dec 15 am, arrive Port Hueneme
Fri, Dec 15 - unload
Sat, Dec16 - cars at VPC
Thurs, Dec 20 - first Hual cars hit the dealers?

But before we get too excited we need to keep in mind that if the ship cruises at just 17.5 mph instead of 20 mph, then the trip to Long Beach would take 8 days instead of 7.

Full speed ahead Scotty!

I don't know about many of you guys who are on the Hual but I'm dying to get my car - here's why:

I sold my 98 altima a week before I put an order in for my 335i (not sure if I could sell it quickly - then sold it in a week). I was then driving my mom's 99 camry for the last 6 weeks or so (what a gutless wonder - no power at all). Now I'm driving my sisters car (my frist car) - a 98 corolla with 172,000 on the clock since she bought another car. 2 weeks to go hopefully and then I'll be rolling. If anything it will just make me appreciate my new car that much more!

Heres to the Hual getting to my dealership by Thursday 21st!!!

Well, since my old car died last week, I've been driving my neighbor's '86 Ford F150 that weighs like 5500 lbs. I can't complain, since he was nice enough to lend it to me, but I can turn the oversized steering wheel 10 degrees either way without a change in direction.

I think that's the Comfort Steering option.

My CA emailed me the following update yesterday:

"Your 2007, 335Cp will be arriving to Port Of Hueneme, CA on 12-13-06. Your car will transfer to VPC (Vehicle Processing Center) no later than 12-14-06"

I wish.

Where are you guys seeing that the HUAL is not supposed to reach Port Hueneme until the 16th? I just got off the phone with my CA and he advised me the ship would be arriving tomorrow (the 13th). I have not been able to find any information on any of the tracking links that suggests the Hual is scheduled to arrive on the 16th.

I'm assuming the system my CA has access to is the same as the one at every other dealership. Does someone else's CA know something mine doesn't?

Your CA is reading off the same order tracking web application that every dealer uses (DCSNet, or dealerspeed net or something like that). I got a copy of my DCSNet status page when the Hual Africa departed Bremerhaven, and the ETA of Dec 13 was the date posted on the DCSNet status page at that time - so it appears that it simply hasn't been updated. Dec 13 has no bearing on reality.

By my calculations, it cannot possibly be in Port Hueneme on the 13th because to do so it would have to 1. travel at it's maximum cruising speed (23 MPH) the WHOLE way up from the Panama canal, AND 2. it would have to skip the scheduled stop in Long Beach, which is supposed to eat up a whole day.

At BEST, traveling at 23 MPH it could arrive in Long Beach on the evening of the 13th, but more likely early on the 14th, spend the day there and then arrive Port Hueneme early on the 15th. That means our cars would be at the VPC by Sat 16. Then 7-10 days to be delivered.

Got this info on the 4th.

Besides, I wouldn't even think about challenging wistarf's calculations, he was so good on the Atlantic crossing he was able to locate the ship on a web cam with no other tracking.

Hi E90Toad,

What part of Colorado? My wife and I live in Monument and we have our 335i on the same ship.

Best regards,

Bill
