Am I the only one on Grand Duke?

My CA said it actually left a day ahead of schedule so it should hit Oxnard a day early, 6/22

Looks like it's behind a day or two now. So much for being ahead of schedule.

Not sure it matters since the cars wouldn't go through customs until Monday at the earliest. Of course earlier would be better.

Good find on the PDF. How often do they get updated?

Not sure. The date on that one is 6/7 and the prior one was 6/1. So maybe once a week. To make sure you are viewing the newest one go here and click current vessel schedule.

Thanks a bunch, the Grand Duke passengers appreciate the updates. It makes the waiting a little more bearable. Plus it would be fun to watch it slip through the locks.

I suppose we should hope she's thru, and on her way up the coast to PH! Thanks for keeping us posted.

Here is the latest AIS of the Panama Approach. She is not there, yet. I checked the whole passageway and she's not there. I don't think she has reached the Canal, yet. You need to back about 7-9 days off of the date she is due in CA and that is when she should reach the Panama Canal.

The Port Hueneme Schedule of arrivals shows June 24, so that means she should reach the Canal around tomorrow or the next day (June 24-9 days=June 15). These ships do change schedules, so this isn't exact, but this gives you an idea of when to expect her. I can pretty much guarantee that she has not reached the Canal, yet, so keep watching.

Here's the Port Hueneme arrivals:

I will keep an eye on AIS as much as I can. In the meantime, you guys keep an eye on the PanCanal cameras. She will first go through the Gatun Locks, then under the Centennial Bridge, then through the Miraflores/San Miguel Locks. It takes eight, or more, hours to go through the whole canal system once she has started passage through the Gatun Locks. Oftentimes (every ship I have tracked) they stop in Limon Bay overnight, which is the Panama Approach area, before going through the Gatun Locks. I don't know why they always stop. Probably to wait their turn in line. I know a specially-trained Canal Pilot has to take the ship through the canal system, so they may have to wait for that:

Sue, thanks for keeping us informed. I tried to get the 14-day trial from AIS, but they haven't responded yet. I'll start checking the cams in a day or so.

I don't understand their protocols for subscriptions. Most of the guys on these forums never do get them, but every once and awhile they let someone onto their system. I have had mine for over three weeks now, and the trial is only suppposed to be two weeks. I wonder if it is because I am a woman and from Utah. Maybe it is not so threatening, security wise, to be a woman and to be from a state not near a port, etc. So, shhhhh! Don't tell and I will keep an eye on AIS for you.

And, I just checked the map. No Grand Duke, yet.

Here is the AIS map of the Grand Duke entering the Panama Approach. Usually the ships park in this region for the night before moving through the Gatun Locks, which are the first set of locks. I will keep an eye on her and let you know where she goes over the next couple hours.

Here's an updated map of the Grand Duke. She is now within Limon Bay on the Atlantic side of the Panama Canal. The green arrow means the ship is traveling at full speed, the yellow arrow means the ship is traveling under 5 knots, and a red arrow means she is stopped and her engines off. The Gatun Locks are not on this map. She has to travel on down (off this map) and onto the next map to reach the Gatun Locks.

The Grand Duke has not moved position since the last AIS map. I think she will stay here most of the night; probably moving on to the Gatun Locks in the early morning hours. It is difficult to know for sure, but that has been the general pattern of these ships.

Thanks again for keeping us updated.

So it should go through the canal tomorrow and then it's about a seven day trip to Oxnard correct?
