matte black rims

Hi everyone i have a sparkling graphite metallic e90 and i am putting avant garde m310 18 inch wheels on them. I am thinking matte black. Does matte black wheels look good after on for a while? do they look dirty? also would they look good on my car which is basically dark grey?

Not a big fan of black wheels but gun metal would match your sparkling graphite.

+1. Gun metal looks great. Black wheels remind me of Corolla/Camry drivers that lose their hub caps (and the matte isn't working in your favor there either).

Pretty sick with Space gray, I'm getting black wheels, Kidneys, and exhaust tips.

The brake dust will make them look brown in direct sunlight.

I have same color on my car. Seen a few pics of black wheels on our color and it looks fine. However, I also saw a pic of gunmetal wheels on the SGM...I like much better. Thinking about getting my 162's powdercoated gunmetal.

Matte works well if you have the blackout theme on the car. As for them getting dirty, they hide dirt better than silver wheels but of course will need regular cleaning like any set of wheels. Avant Garde provides a solid finish so it is resilient to brake dust and will not wear over time.

hey everyone. thanks for replying. i actually am doing the blackout theme. i got my side marker tinted, my windows tinted, black bmw embem, and headlight amber reflectors tinted. soon, i am also getting matte black grilles, matte black exhaust tips, and matte black 328i sign. I think that these matte black wheels will make my car look really good with these mods. what do you all think?

Not a fan of matte black on black, I have hyper black on my JB and I think it looks better. Matte black does look good on SG though.

The matte black finish actually does provide a great contrast to a car in either space grey or sparkling graphite color. It'll also flow well with other black out mods such as the matte black kidney grill, window tint, etc, and give it that aggressive and sporty look that you're going for. I'll shoot you over a PM with more details!

there is a sparkling graphite thread in the photo forum and a wheels and drops thread in the wheels and tires section where you will find many photos of sgm with all different colored wheels.

Matte black looks great on either SG. I was going to put it on my AW E90 but I think it'd require a massive drop to look good.

They tend to get dirty fast, mines last about a 1 1/2 weeks before they start looking filthy. Chemical guys makes a good matte cleaner

Since matte black rims don't have a gloss or clear coat to it, it's easier for dirt or oxidation to stick to the surface. If you are diligent about it and clean them once a week I wouldn't worry about it too much, but if your bad about it over time your smooth matte finish might turn brownish and rough.
